Belyear requF-sting that Drury Lane, from Century Boulevard to Norton Avenue be put in better condition as the road bed~is hazardous. The_:~~e being no objection, this matter was referred to City Engineer Graves with instructions that he repair the street by smoothing the surfacing and filling the ruts that exist therein. A communication w~;s received. from Wr.~. A. Wittman, Attorney at Lavtt, on behalf of A. V. Hokin, stating that they are willing to negotiate for a contract to dispo^e of garbage, tin cans, scrap iron and rubber goods at the rate of ?500.00 per month, and dis:~osal of tra_s~^ for ;250.00 per month, both terminable on sixty days notice from either ~-arty. There being no objection, this matter was tabled fo~~• future consideration. A cornrnunication was received from ~,~1. R. Wright, Public Accountant offering to ma?<.e an audit quarterly of all City books on cash. transactions for fiscal year 1Q45-46 on the basis of X225.00 per gz:arter. A communication was received from the Board. of SZ?per- visors of Los Angeles County authorizing an appropriation of X21,037.81 for Street improvements within the City of Lynwood.. A communication 1Rras received from the Boy Scouts of America to the effect that they desire to t~se the I:s,~nwood City Parr the evening of Jlzly 26, 1945 for their monthly scooters round table, calling attention to no lighting facilities in the shelters, inq~~i-ring if 1 ight co~.zld be provided. City Engineer Graves addressed the Council to the effect that the E'_ison Co~-r!pany have pror;~ised to ccrnplete v~liring the rest roams by July 26, and if it is v~~ired a co~•d could be installed for the meetinQ~ and. take it down the next da,y. Cavanaugh calling attention to the purchase of man,Y of the corners on Long Beach Bozrleva.rn. to k e used for g~soline stations, recommending that the City Council make some restrictions so that it will not have the appearance of gasoline alley. There being no objection, this matter !>!las referred to the Planning Commission for study. A cornt~unication «~as received from Chief of Police Kerr recommending• that a painter be employed to do paining of signs on Streets; pedestrian crossings, etc., stating that he included an amount for such ntzrpose~ in his 1945-46 budget requests.
