ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 4~„ 1946
The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in a
Joint adJourned session with the Planning Commission in the
Council Chamber of the City Hall, 11331 Plaza Street, on above
date, at 7;30 P. M.
Mayor Wiggins in the Chair.
Councilmen Shrock, Meyer, Willard and Wiggins answered
the roll call.
Councilman Looney was absent.
Motion was made by Councilman Willard, seconded by
Councilman Shrock that the minutes of the adJourned regular seSeion
of January 30, 1946 be accepted as written. All members of the.
City Council presazt voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion
duly carried.
Mr. John Frye, of 5210 Village Green, Los Angeles,
supporting his written communication, addressed the Council regard-
ing zoning as affecting Alameda frontage in Tract 5418, which
was changed from Zone M-1 to C-3 by vote of the Council at its
meeting of January 30, stating that he had purchased 13 Lots along
there because i t was zoned as M-1, on which he proposes building
industrial buildings; further stating that it is the logical
location for an M-1 district in Lynwood because of similar zoning
on the west and north sides of that area and acEessibility to stem
tracks and truck highway.
Mr. Frye stated further that he had talked to other
property owners in this district, including Mr. Seffens, Mr.
Dickson, Mr. Sammons, and they all felt that M-1 zoning should be
retained, as well as Mr. Turk, who p3anS to put in a plant
employing 100 people.
Mr. M. C. Seffens addressed the Council, Supporting
his oral communication with a letter, stating that he felt this area
shotald be Zone M-1 as it is cut off from the west and north by
manufacturing plants and that he feels there iS ample commercial
zoning in Lynwood without this area.
Communications protesting change to C-3 were received
from Equipment Marketing Company, and Bowers Hoist & Winch Company,
located on Alameda Blvd., requesting that Alameda Blvd. be made
Zone M-1 District.
After considerable discussion motion waS made by
Councilman Shrock and Seconded by Councilman Meyer that the Council
Ame ~ its action of January 30 and donfirm the action of the Planning
Commission in proposing M-1 district on Alameda Blvd. and Century
Blvd. in Tract 5418. AlI members of the City Council present
voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried.
It was moved by Councilman Willard and seconded by
Councilman Shrock that the meeting adJourn to February 5, 1946,
at 7:30 P. M. All members of the City Council present voting
aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried.
