HomeMy Public PortalAbout02_7A1_CCM - 2020-11-17 SpecialCITY COUNCIL TEMPLE CITY, CALIFORNIA SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES NOVEMBER 17, 2020 1.CALL TO ORDER Mayor Chavez called the City Council Special Meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. telephonically. 2.ROLL CALL PRESENT:Councilmember – Man, Sternquist, Vizcarra, Yu, Chavez ABSENT:Councilmember - None ALSO PRESENT:City Manager Cook, City Attorney Murphy, City Clerk Kuo, Administrative Assistant to the City Manager/City Council Flores, and Community Development Director Reimers 2.PUBLIC COMMENT – None 3.NEW BUSINESS A.LETTER OF SUPPORT REQUESTING THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF GOVERNMENTS (SCAG) REGIONAL COUNCIL TO CONVENE A SPECIAL CLOSED MEETING OF THE REGIONAL COUNCIL TO DISCUSS THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE SCAG REGIONAL HOUSING NEEDS ASSESSMENT (RHNA) LITIGATION COMMITTEE The City Council is requested to consider approval of sending a letter of support requesting the Southern California Association of Government Regional Council to convene a special closed meeting of the regional council. City Manager Cook gave an overview of staff’s request to submit a letter of support requesting the SCAG Regional Council to convene a special closed meeting of the regional council to discuss the recommendations of the SCAG Regional Housing Needs Assessment Litigation Committee. City Council asked questions regarding the submittal of letter of support. City Attorney Murphy and Community Development Director Reimers answered Council’s questions. Mayor Chavez opened public comment. Hearing no request to speak, Mayor Chavez closed public comment. City Council made final comments. Councilmember Man made a motion directing City Manager to submit a letter on the City Council’s behalf in support of requesting to convene a special closed meeting of AGENDA ITEM 7.A-1. City Council Minutes November 17, 2020 Page 2 of 2 the SCAG Regional Council to discuss the recommendations of the SCAG Regional Housing Needs Assessment (RHNA) Litigation Committee. Seconded by Councilmember Vizcarra and approved by the following votes: AYES: Councilmember – Man, Sternquist, Vizcarra, Yu, Chavez NOES: Councilmember – None ABSENT: Councilmember – None ABSTAINED: Councilmember – None 5.
