Baker of 3~a17 Louise Street addressed the Council stating th~~t he requested an itemized accounting of the expense of the ~:~ro~ect. Councilman Srrock,informed hir,~ th~~.t said records urere public and on file in the Clerk's office. I~.~Ir. K. F. Baker of 3911 Louise Street protested the cost as exhorbitant. Pr. E. C. Sheimin5 of 11610 Nichols Street, voiced his obiectioz~ to the assessment. tiVhereupon, the Engineer explained the assessment proceed- ings and hoti« the assessments ~"Tere determined. There was further discussion tivherein I?r. Clark of 3832 Louise Street stated that his section of sidewalk vras on grade yet it v,~as tern out. PZr. '.". A. Lovell of 11620 i~9.chols, complained that the sidewalk in wont of his property was already cracking. After considerable discussion, it was decided that.an ' accounting of the expense cuould be compiled and ready for all ivh.o might v~~ish same on Friday, December 6. tNhereupon, it was moved by Councilman Jensen, seconded by'Councilman ,fililliams, that the hearing be continued until the next regular meeting. Glen Brewer, 10973 Standard, addressed tl`ie Council as to measures that could. be taken to have the dairy on Abbott Road . removed. The ~`Iayor asked the City Attorney to explain the problem. The Attorney stated that inasmuch as the dairy had been there long before any residential section that there could be no action taken to remove it. The only measure to be used vaculd be close surveillance as to health conditions. I:Ir. P~aclviullen, 11110 State Street addressed the Council regarding the garbage ordinance, questioning the right to assess veterans, stating that their veterans' exemption would cover any sucr~ charge, further asking the Attorney for his opinion. Thy Attorney stated that it was his opinion that I:?r. i~IcT~-iullen was in error because veterans' exemptian pertains only to property taxes. t~Jhereupon, the Mayor requested the City Attorney to check further and report all his findings as to the question raised by Nr. P.Zclvlullen. L. C. Browning, 12226 Santa Fe Avenue, asked if th.e g^rbagTe ordinance was in force now. He tRias informed th~~t it had begin in force since September. I~Tr. Shaw, of Shaw's P~:;otel, addressed. the Council, stating simply th<~t he wished to voice his protest to the garbage ordinance. It2r. Baker of 10972, Cornish, asked exactly how th.e enforce- ment of the ordinance would,, be effected.
