HomeMy Public PortalAboutM 1949-08-22 - CC33~ ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 22, 1949 The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in an adjourned regular session in the City Hall, 11331 Plaza Street, on above date at 515 P• m. Mayor Willard in the chair. Councilmen Bruner, Willard, and Williams answered the roll call. Councilmen Jensen .and Stroh were absent.. There was a communication Prom Khayyam'Grotto requesting a 90-day option on the State and Imperial property. There was a discus- sion as to the advantages of having a local organization acquire the property wherein it was moved by Councilman Williams and seconded by Councilman Bruner that the Mayor b~e authorized to execute an option to purchase the City's real property described as follows: Lots 2, 3, ~, and 5, Block 18, Mod,~eska Park, Map Book 9, Pages 142 and 143, for a period oP 90 days for a price of X10,500.00, payable on or before the expiration period of said option, option to be in standard. option form, subject to the approval of the City Attorney, consideration for said option being the sum of X10.00, optionee to be Khayyam Grotto, City to deliver a merchantable title, if unable to do so, all moneys paid to be refundable. All members present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. ORDINANCE N0. 505 entitled SAN ORDINANCE OF THE INCORPORATED CITY OF LYNWOOD ESTABLISHING TAX DISTRICTS NUMBERS 1 AND 2 OF SAID CITY, FIXING THE RATES OF TAXES, AND LEVYINC7'ir,XES FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BE- GINNING JULY 1, 1949, AND ENDING JUNE 30, 1950" was read. It was moved by Councilman ti~lilliams and seconded by Councilman Bruner, that said ordinance be adopted as read the second time, finally pass and be pub- lished as required by law. - Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Bruner, Willard, and Williams. Noes: None. Absent: Councilmen Jensen and Stroh. A communication from the Recreation Commission was read where- in they recommend Arnold J. Robles be appointed Recreation Director, permanent status. There was a discussion as to department organization and possible reorganization wherein it was moved by Councilman Williams, seconded by Councilman Bruner, that recommendation of the Recreation Commission be approved and appointment made, effective September 1, 1949. All members present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. Councilman Bruner explained to the Council the progress he is making as Commander of the Disaster Relief organization and the .cooperation he has been receiving. It was moved by Councilman Williams, seconded by Councilman Bruner, that the meeting be ad,~ourned.
