Mayor Willard in the chair. Councilmen Daetweilern Sneddon and Willard answered roll call. Councilmen Bruner and Stroh were absent. After discussion it was moved by Councilman Sneddon, seconded by Councilman Daetweiler, that the Planning Commission°s action of denial be confirmed and the variance be denied. All members present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried, The Mayor announced that owi.rrg to conflict with the City Court, the meeting would have to move to other quarters, Whereupon it was moved by Councilman Daet~reiler, seconded by Councilman Sneddon that the meeting adjourn to the Clerks Of~'ice9 Room 2, City Hall, and to re®convene imr_!ediately. All members present voting aye, the Mayor declared the matian duly carried. Ths Mayor declared the misting in order in the Clerk~a office. Whereupon Councilmen Bruner and Stroh arrived and took their seats. A communication from the Lynwood Women°s Club requesting permisaic~n to hold a bazaar December 1 and 2, 19,50, at 11422 Long Beach Boulevard was read. It was moved by Councilman Stroh seconded by Councilman Daetweiler that said approval be given. All members present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. A communication from the Recreation Commission was read wherein they requested a point meeting with the City Council to discuss future park plans. After discussion, it was moved by Councilman Btroh, seconded by Councilman Hruner that the Recreation Commission be notified that the Council will meet with them Nov- ember 27:, 1950, at 7030 p.m, in the Council Chambers of the City Hall. All members present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. A communication from the Lynwood Women°s Club was read wherein, they requested trash cans along uninhabited areas. It was mo•aed by Councilman Stroh, seconded by Councilman Bruner that reaid matter be ref erred to the Manager for report. Jensen was read wherein she expressed her appreciation for the thoughtful resolution adopt- ed 'by the City Council in regard to the death of her husband, former Councilman Jens P. Jensen. It was moved by Councilman Stroh, seconded by Councilman Sneddon that said communication be Pilrsd. ®.11 members present voting ayes the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. The application of Patricia L. Miller to condo et a steam bath business at 10845 Long Beach Boulevard was presented,. along with the Chiet° of Police° report recommending issuance of said lieenaE ~~inoe investigation revealed nothing detrimental in applicant~a lba.ckground. A communication from George Herman of the South Gate Animal Shelter was read„ offering to furnish the City pound ser~ vice for 75,E of the license fees. Af ter discussion it has point® ed out that an ordinance as to license fees was no park of the contract problem and that in order that receipt books and other necessary materials could be arranged for9 there must be action taken. It was ointed out that most of the ad,~oining cities use the ~2004~~.40 rate„ as well as the County of Los Angeles. S~Tb.ereupon an Ordinance entitled SAN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD A~IENDIN G ORDINANCE N0. X16 OF SAID CITYa WHICH ORDINANCES AMONG OTHER THINGS9 REGULATES THE OWNING OR HARBORING OF DOGS9 AND REGULATES THE KEE3~ING OF DOGS, AND FIXES LICENSE FEES FOR DOGS was read for the first timeo It was moved by Councilman Strobe seconded by Councilman Sneddon that said ©rd- inance be accepted as read for the first time and pass to the second readingo Roll Gallo Ayeso Councilmen Bruner9 Daetweilera Sneddon, Stroh and Willardo Noesa None. The Manager reported on the request of the school dis- tract in regard to use of part of the civic center land for school administration nur~~ses. The Manager stated that his invest- igation revealed the area they wish to acquire ana other factors involvede recommending that the meeting, as requested, with the school board be held to discuss the matter fully, He further recommended that the City Attorney be directed to submit a written opinion on the legality of disposing of public lands. After discussion it was decided that the Manager be instructed to advise. the school board the Council would meet with them at "~ p.m, on November 279 lg5© in the Council Chambers.. The Manager reported on an application for John Harkey. to vend ice cream from the street at the junior high school. The Manager reported that police investigation establishes Mr. Harkey to be og good reputation. Whereupon it was moved by Councilman Stroh9 seconded by Councilman Bruner that said permit be approved. The Manager reported that as per direction, the lease agreements have been drawn by the City Attorney for the parking lot on Long Beach Boulevard near Fernwood Avenues requesting that same be executedo Whereupon it was moved by Councilman Daetweiler seconded by Councilman Stroh that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to execute same on behalf of the City, All members present voting aye9 the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. Councilman Bruner reported on the Community Cheat dr:tve stating he felt certain City employees would do their part in this worthy cause.
