It was moved by Councilman Daetweiler, second by Council-
man Bruner, that said. bids be referred to the Engineer for checking

Council in regard to the crossing of Atlantic Avenue and Fernwood
Avenues ste.tin~; that there hs~re been two serious accidents involy-
ing pedestrians tr,,ere recently. After a discussion, it was moved
by Cour~~cil~nar~ Daetwe~.l.er, ~e0.csn4~ b;~ Councilman Bruner, that the
matter be referred to the ~.}"s~.ef of Folice and City Manager for in-
vestigs.tiono All members ~;sresent voting aye, the Mayor declared

A communicatian frr~rr the Board of Supervisors of Log
Angeles County was read wherein they formally notify the City of
Lynwood.. of their intentirsr. to cancel their lease for Justice Court
facilities as of December 431, 1951. It was moved by Councilman
Bruner, seconded by Councilman Daetweiler, that said communication
be accepted ar•~d :~;sled, All members present noting aye, the Mayor

A corxrmun~cation f"rom the Grand Jury, County of Los
Angeles, was reed wYierein they report that the Lynwood"City Jail
is in fs,ir c;~nc~ ition but recommend. that more attention be given
toward keepin~~; thy; ,jail cleaner, Whereupon, it was moved by
Councilmen Daetweiler, seconded by Councilman Bruner, that the

A communication ws.s rTead from Mrs. Mildred E. Horguard
wherein she expressed her ap~oreci,ation of the invitation to par-
ticipate in the Torn Meeting; tc be held December 5. It was moved
by Cc~~.nviiman Sned.d.;ne seconded by Councilman Brunera that said
communication be filed.. All members present voting ayes the

The Manager reported. on vehicle bias as received at
the Tast meeting and pointed nut that Southland:dotors and Be11-
~acsad CY~e~,rr c~let bids were defective in that they failed to include
~, b~.d bend as required., The bid of Mel Burnae Inc. was complete.
The Manager further reported that Mel Burns9 Inc. bid
way; `~~o~~ ,~.r~ regard to :~~ecie-1 police sedans and recommended that
said, ~~~md, for the special police sedans ~be acceptedp all other
bir:~~r ~~~ ~ected.n and. the Manager authorized to purchase the. other

The Mar-z~.gex~ reported on the request for a short sewer
extension in the first alley southerly of Century Boulevard ex-
tend ~.n~° easter ly from Harris g stating that the ,job was so small
that ~.~.; dial not warrant the 1911. Improvement Act District, and
recom~aaend.ir.~~; that it be extended by the City and costs recovered
by tap charge,® He further stated that development in the area
indicates that the complete cost9 which would amount to less
thar^~ ~8COeCC9 would be recovered in approximately six months.
After discussions it was .moved by Councilman Sneddona
seconded by Councilman Brunere that said improvement be approved
and sufficient tap charge authorized, All member8 present
voting ayes the Mayor declared the motion duly carried,
A communication was read from Central Gardens Improve-
~,~errt Association wherein the~* request a crossing guard at Will
~agerg School or: Wright Load. The Manager pointed out that the
street is in the County and that the entire attendance at the
g a;hool are County cit iz eras e a.nd that he felt that the City had
no responsibility in tkie ~aatter.

Councilman Sneddona seconded by Councilman Bruner9 that said
claim be referred to the City Attorney for disposition with the

The Manager presented preliminary swimming pool report
as prepared by the arcY~+itecte Ra1.ph Brooke, Whereupon, it was
moved by Councilman Daetweiler~ seconded by Councilman Brunere
that said report be accepted far study. X11 members present
voting ayes the Mayor declared the motion duly carried.
The Manager reported. that Mrs. Doris Bailie, Clerk
Stenagrapher in the Clerk°s Office, resigned effective November
~Q. r~~iiereupons it was moved by Councilman Daetweiler9 seeanded
by C~uncitman Sneddona that said resignation be accepted with

The City Attorney addressed the Council and requested
authority to defend Charles M. Ha119 Building Official, in suit
now pending of I~aleen vs o Hall. It was moved by Councilman
Bruner seconded by Councilman Daetweilera that said authority be
