Mayor willard in the chair. Councilmen Bruner, Daetweiler, Pearson, Sneddon, and willard answered the roll call. It was moved by Councilman Bruner, seconded by Council- man P®arson, that the minutes of the previous regular meetinE of June ~, 1952 be approved as written. All members voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried.. The hour of 8000 o°clock p. m. .having arriving, said hour being the time fixed for hearing any and all protests or ob,~ectioras regarding the proposed improvement of Carson Drive Et Ale the Mayor inquired if there were any present risking to spee~c on this matter. There was no reap ones. Thereupon, RESOLUTION N0. 240b entitled "RESOLUTION 0'~~- RULING PROTESTS IN CONNECTION WITH THE HEARING ON DEBT LIhtITATIOX FOR THE PROPOSED IMPROVEMENT OF CARSON DRIVE ET AL" rae presented. Absent8 None. A surety bond in the amount of X10,000 was presented naming City Clerk H. M. .Campbell a® principal. It rae moved by Councilman Sneddon, seconded by Councilman Pearson, that Bald bond be accepted and the Mayor authorized to hold same. All members voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried, The Clerk read Planning Com*nission Resolution No. 91 denying the request of Gerald McGinnis, 3527 Los Flores Boulevard, for variance of rear ,yard requirements. RESOLUTION N0. 2407 entitled "RESOLUTION APPROVING PLANE, SPECIFICATIONS AND MAP OF ASSESSMENT DISTRICT FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF PEACH STREET, BY THE CONSTRUCTION OF CEMENT CONCRETE CURBS AID CEMENT CONCRETE GUTTERS" was presented. RESOLUTION N0. 2411 entitled "RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COLtNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD SETTING TIME AND PLACE FOR HEARING PROTESTS IN RELATION TO THE PROPOSED IMPROVEMENT FOR THE FURNISH- ING OF ELECTRICAL ENERGY TO LIGHT ALL STREET LIGHTING SYSTEMS IN THE CITY OF LYNWOOD08 waa presented. It was moved by Councilman Sneddona aecor~ded by Councilman Pearson, that said Resolution be adopted. Roll Callo Ayeao Councilmen Bruner, Daetweiler, Pearson, Sneddon, ~.nd Willard. Noes None, Abaento None. The Clerk informed the Council that Planning Commissioner Mason°s term expires July 1, 1952. It was moved by Councilman Daetweiler, seconded by Councilman Sneddon, that Commissioner Mason be reappointed for an additional term of four years, .All members voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. The Mayor inquired if there were any oral communications. Whereupon, Mra. Vella 0. C. Barbee, 3546 Orchard Avenue, addressed the Council regarding the validity of Planning Commia- sion members Limber and Bateman voting on Planning Commission Resolution No. 62. Whereupon, the Mayor advised Mrs. Barbee to contact the City Clerk to check the appointments of said Commissioners. There was a discussion of the possible methods of cir- culating petitions to ,loin the Metropolitan Water District, wherein it waa suggested that paid circulators be hired Por the purpose of recur^ing the required signatures. Whereupon, it was moved by Councilman Pearson, seconded by Councilman Sneddon, that, sub,~ect to an opinion of the City Attorney as to the legality of this expenditure, circulators be "~"' employed to circulate said petitions, Roll Ca11o .Ayeao Councilmen Bruner, Daetweiler, Pearson, Sneddon, and Willard. Absents None, The Manager presented g contract with the State of Calif- ornia for the purchase of one siren for Civil DePenae purposes, the City°a share of eai.d coat to be 25,x, with the State and Federal agencies contributing the balance. It was moved by Councilman Bruner, seconded by Councilman Sneddon, that the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to execute said contract. NoesB None. Absento None. The Manager presented three applications for the position of City Treasurer to fill the unexpired term of City Treasurer Allen Ro Floyd. Applications were received from Charles B. Yarnell., Ep3~raim L. Oblad, and Ellen Webb. After discussion, it was moved by Councilman Dastweiler, seconded by Councilman Sneddon, that Ellen Webb be appointed City Treasurer and Retirement Administrator, effective July 2, 1952. A11 members voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. The City Manager presented the resignation of Fireman Clayton Crawford, effective June 1~, 1952, and recommended that Roland C. Safe, the next man on the eligible list, be appointed Fireman probationary, effective June 12, 1952, at the salary of X195.00 per month, plus the cost of living adjustment, It was moved by Councilman Sneddon, seconded by Council- man Bruner, that the resign~.tion of Clayton Crawf~r$ be aeceptRd with regret, and that Roland C. Safe be appointed as recommended. All members voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. It was regularly moved by Councilman Dastweiler, seconded by Councilman Pearson, that the demands presented at the meeting of June 1~', 1952, having been regularly audited, are hereby allowed and approved, and warrants ordered drawn on the City Treasurer therefore in accordance with and to the payees named and the funds Indicated in the several demands hereby approved.
