It was moved by Councilman Daetweiler, seconded by
Co~:~r~ciTms.r Pearson, that the minutes of the previous regular
meet~.n.g of July 7, 193 be approved as written. All members
present votirA~ aye, tYie Mayor declared the motion duly carried.

at the :~.e.s ~ z~~:gular meeting for the furnishing of 80 auditorium
seats for the new city hall, stating that the low bid of B. F.
Shearer Company did not meet specifications and recommended that
the second bid of Austin-Bentley Seating Company be accepted, and
contract awarded.
Whereupon, a represe.~tative of the B. F. Shearer Company

con±ract to the Austin-Bentley Seating Company.

Fears~:~n, seconded '~;~ Councilman Bruner, that said permission
be granted, license--free. All members voting aye, the Mayor ,,~
declared the motion duly carried.
The Clerk presented Planning Commissioner Resolution
N®. 113 wr~ereir. tl~e Planning Commission denied the request for
acne reclaseif ication :1"x*om R-3 to C-2 oi' Lots 1 to 9, inclusive, ~
Block '~', Tract No.. 9288, as per application filed by Richard E.
Badger. St wa moved by Courci.lman Sneddon, seconded by Courx-
cilman Pearson, that the Council concur in the recommendation of
the Pls.r~n3.rig Comm~.ssion.

.The Clerk presented a communication from the Alert
Escrow Company wrierein they stated that the City of Lynwood had

apparently obtained in error a deed from Marion Smith for the
southerly 20 feet of Lots 295 and 402, Tract 6557 (improvement
of .Abbott Roads ~ requesting that the City of Lynwood give a
qu~.tclaim deed to the rightful owner, Lillian Virgilio, in
exchange f"or a grant deed for the above described property.
It was moved by CouneilmarA Pearson, seconded by Councilman
Snedeic.rA~ tri~.t the Glerk and Mayor be authorized to execute
sa.i~ ~.nstrument.

RESOLUTION N0, 2515 entitled "A RffiOLUTION OF THE
CITY COUNCIL. OF T~iE. CITI' OF LYNWOOD APPROVING ASSESSMENT DIA-
C~RAN; TN THE: MATT.ER`~OF THE, FROPOSED IMPROVEMENT OF PORTIONS OF
PENDLETON AVENUE BY~= T~LE.,CONSTRUCTION OF GEMENT CONCRETE CURBS
AND CEMENT CONCRETE:QUTTERB" waa presented. It was moved~by
Councilman Daetweiler, seconded by Councilman Bruner, that said
Resolution be adopted,

The City Manager stated that he had received a request
from a property owner for the vacation of street deeds for pro-
posed streets extended easterly from Peach Street between Euclid
and Carlin Avenues. After considerable discussion, it was
moved. by Councilman Pear''son, seconded by Councilman Daetweiler,
that the City Manager prepare a petition for signatures of all
affected property owners as to their agreement to said vacation
before any further proceedings are commenced. All member voting
aye, .the Mayor declared the motion. duly .carried.
The Manager eta.ted that the Federal Communications Commission
has informed .the Ct~rrthat it will be: necessary to change from
the present radio~f`rec~uency to FM, which will necessitate the
purchase of new radio equipment and requested authorization. to
advertise for bide for. furnishing this equipz~ent. .
Whereupon, it was moved by Counci]~man Daetweiler,
seconded by Councilman Peareon,'thgt the City Manager be
aut.hori,z~d.'to-.prepare epeci#'ications and advertise for bids, as

The City Manager presented a report on the Civilian
Defense Mate Aid in connection with the purckiase of the new
fire apparatus wherein he stated there .seemed to be certain
conditions that ,might limit its use, end recommended that he
be granted authority to use his own discretion as to whether
or not the restrictions would be in the beet interests of the
City. It we.s moved by,Councilman Bruner, seconded by Council-
man Snedd.an, that .the Council concur in the recommendation of
the City Manager. A11 members voting; aye, the Mayor declared
the motion duly carried.
-The Manager stated that he was in ,receipt of the
necessary,forme ~o proceed with the Special Census as requested
bythe council and requested that he be appointed as the author-
ized. went for the City of Lynwood. to execute all necessary
documents. Whereupon, it was moved by Councilman Sneddon,
seconded by Councilman Bruner, that the Manager be authorized
to execute said papers in connection with the Special Census.
All members voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion 8uly
carried.
The Manager presented the resignation of Patrolman
Ralph Dever, effective August 1,5, 1953. It was moved by
Councilman Bruner, seconded by Councilman Sneddon, that said
resignation be accepted with regret. All members voting aye,
the Ma;~.~ar declared the oration duly carried.
The Manager presented a report stating that Officer
Cole has satisfactorily completed twelve months service as a
Motor Officer and. recommended that he be advanced to the next
salary step of ~36Q.00 per month, effective July 16, 1953. It
was moved by Councilman Pearson, eecanded by Councilman Bruner,
that the Council cancur in the recommendation of the City
Manager. All members voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion
duly carried.
The Manager presented his report on the bids received
at the last meeting far furnishing the city~a gasoline supplies
for the coming year, wherein he stated that only one bid had
been received and. that he felt a more favorable price could be
obtained by re-advertising.
After considerable discussion, it was moved by Council-
man Pearson, seconded by Councilman Sneddon, that the bid of
Standard Oil Company ~ of `California be'iaccepted. ~ ~~

It was moved by Councilman Daetweiler, seconded by
Councilman Sneddon, that the demands presented at the meeting
of July 21, 1953, having been regularly audited, are hereby
allowed and approved and warrants ordered drawn on the City
TreaBUrer therefor in accordance with and to the payees named
and the funds indicated in the several demands hereby approved.
