Councilmen Daetweiler, Pearson, Sneddon, and Willard a.nsw.:red. the roll call. Councilman Bruner was absent. It was moved by Councilman Daetweiler, seconded by Councilman Sneddon, that the minutes of the previous regular meeting; of July 21, 1953 be approved as written. All members present voting; aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. The Cler'_~ presented a. comrnunica.tion from the Building Official requesting that building; permit No. 13996 issued to Mrs. Alice Hoga.don, 10840 Colyer, be cancelled and the permit fee leas processing charges, be refunded. Whereupon, it was moved by Councilman Daetweiler, second ed. by C ovncilma.n Pearson, that said refund be authorized. It was moved by Councilman Pearson, seconded. by Covncilman Sneddon, that the Mayor and Clerk be authorized. to execute the lease on behalf of the City of Lynwood. The Mana{~er Atated he had received a request from property owners for the vacation of the first alley southerly of Century Boulevard extending; easterly of Harris Avenue, and recommended that said proceedings be instituted. Whereupon, RESOLUTION N0. 2516 entitled 'RESOLUTION OF INTEPITION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD, CALIFORNIA, DECLARI Na ITS INTE'~TTION TO VACATE THE FIRST ALLEY SOUTHERLY OF CENTURY 130UL1~VARD EXTEl1DING 'EASTERLY OF HARRIS AVENUE'S was presented. Whereupon, RESOLUTION N0. 2517 entitled "RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD APPROVINCr FIRST SUPPLE- MENTAL MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT FOR THE EXPENDITURE OF f~AS TAX ALLOCATION FOR MAJOR CITY STREETS" was presented. It was moved by Councilman Sneddon, seconded by Councilman P ears~n, that said Resolution be a.dop_ ted. Roll Calls A,yess Councilmen Daetweiler, Pearson, Sneddon, and Willard. Noels None. Absents Councilman Bruner. The Manager presented the Community Recreation Agreement between the City of Lynwood, L,vnwood Unified School District, and the County of Los At~;eles for the financing; of Community recrea- t ion programs for the fisr.s~1 veer 1953-54. After discussion, it was moved by Councilman Daetweiler, seconded by Councilman Pearson, that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to execute said. agreement on behalf of the City of Lynwood. The hour of 8:00 u.m. having; arrived, said hour being the time fixed for receiving; any and all bids for the furnishing of office furniture for the new City Ha11, the Mayor inquired if there were any present wishing; to submit bids. There was no resp_ once. The Cler?~ stated he had received four bids. It was moved by Councilman Daetweiler, seconded by Councilman Pearson, that said.. bids be publicly opened examined, and declared. All members present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motior~ duly carried. All members present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. The hour of 8:00 p. m. having arrived, said hour being the time fixed for receiving any and all bids for the furnishing of radio equipment, the Mayor inquired if there were any present wishing to submit bide. There was no response. The Clerk stated he had received three bide. It was moved by Councilman Sneddon, seconded by Councilman Pearson, that said bids be publicly opened, examined, Pnd declared. It was moved by Councilman Sneddon, seconded by.Council- man Pearson, that said. bide be referred to the City Manager for checking and report. All members voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. The Manager presented the following personnel recom- mendation: That Chester R. Surwlllo, number one on the eligible list, be appointed Patrolman, probationary, effective August 1, 1953, at the salary of X320 per month. It was moved by Councilman Sneddon, seconded by Councilman Pearson, that said recommendation be approved. All members voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. It was moved by Councilman Daetweiler, seconded by Councilman Pearson, that the demands presented at the meeting of August 4, 1953, having been regularly audited, are hereby allowed and ap?~roved and warrants ordered drawn on the City Treasurer therefor in accordance with and to the payees named a.nd the funds indicated in the several demands hereby approved.
