the time fixed. for reception of any and all bide for furnishing

addressed the Council regarding traffic conditions at Fernwood
and, Alameda: and. also protested the blockin~~ of"° the intersection

The Manager stated that both the Pacific Electric

Yze represents several property ow~ne:.~~~ in the proposed C-'~'•••a Zone
on Long Beach Boulevard south of Fernwood Avenue. Mr. Kerinea.y
asked that this matter be held over to allow the property owners
farther tune to study the provisions of the proposed rezoning.
The Mayor stated that this matter will be taken up
later i1a the rneetin~~.
RESOLUTION N0. 251 entitled "RESOLUTION OF THE CITY
COrJwCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD FIXING TIME AND PLACE FOR PUBLIC
HEARING IN REGARD TO EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS DERIVED FROM ~ OF ]~
CITY SALES TAX" was presented. (Radio Equipment) It was moved
by Councilman Pearson, seconded by Councilman Daetweiler, that
said Resolution be adopted.

An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE OF THE INCORPORATED
CITY OF LYNWOOD ESTABLISHING TAX DISTRICT NUMBER 1 OF SAID CITY,
FIXING THE RATES OF TAXES, AND LEVYING TAXES FOR THE FISCAL YEAR,
BEGINNING JULY 1, 1953 AND ENDING JUNE 30, 1954" was presented

The Clerk presented Planning Commission Resolution
No. 114 which approved the f ollowin~; zone changers Lots 1 to
13, inclusive and Lots 24 to 38 inclusive, Tract No. 18955, from
Zone R-1 to Zone R-2; and that portion of Lot 1 and Lot 6 of
Slausson Tract, 1yin~r between the northerly line of Fernwood
Avenue and r~~.e easterly ;brolongatiarz ~,f the center line of
Cortland. Avenue, and l,T~ rz~T westerly of Wright Road, from Zone

the Planning Commission.
Whereupon, an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING
ORDINANCE N0. 570 FOR THE PURPOSE OF RECLASSIFICATION OF CERTAIN
PROPERTIES AND THE ADOPTION OF AN AMENDED SECTION OF THE ZONING
MAP WHICH IS A PART OF SAID ORDINANCE N0. 570" was presented

Planning Commissioner Resolution No. 115 war presented,
which approves the change of zone of Lotr 129 to 139 inclusive,
Tract No. 10503 from Zone R-3 to Zone R-1. (Lund). It was
moved by Councilman Pearson, seconded by Councilman Bruner, that
the Council con~~ur in tree action of the Planning Commission. All
:nembex~s votir~~ aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried.
Whereupon, an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AMEND-
ING ORDINANCE N0. 570 FOR THE PURPOSE OF RECLASSIFICATION OF
CERTAIN PROPERTIES AND THE ADOPTION OF AN AMENDED SECTION OF THE
ZONING MAP WHICH IS A PART OF SAID ORDINANCE N0. 570" was pre-
sented for the first time. It was moved by Councilman Sneddon,
secand.ed by Councilman Bruner, that further reading be waived.

cilman Bruner, that said ordinance be accepted as read for the
first time, finally pass and be published as required by law.

. The Clerk presented Planning Commission Reso],ution No.
116 which approves the change of zone of that property fronting
on Long; Beach Boulevard between Fernwood Avenue and the southerly
city limits from Zone C-2 to C-2-a.
Whereupon, it was moved by Councilman Pearson, aeeond.ed
by Councilman Sned.don, that this matter be held. over to the next
regular meeting to allow property owners further time to study
^ the proposed cha.n~~e ~f zane as discussed earlier in the meeting.
All members voting; aye, the Ma.,yor declared the motion duly
carried.
The Manager presented his report on the bids for furni-
ture for the new city hall which were received at the last meeting
wherein he recommended that the contract be awarded to Pacific
Desk Company, the low bidder. Whereupon, it was moved by Coun-
Gilman Bruner, seconded by Councilman Sneddon, that the Council
concur in the recommendations of the City Manager a.e outlined
in said report.

The Manager presented his report on the bids for
furnishing; of radio equipment which were received at the last
meeting, wherein he recommended that the contract be awarded to
the Motorola Communications and Electronics, Inc.. It was
moved by Councilman Bruner, seconded by Councilman Pearson,
that the Council concur in the Managers recommendations.

The City Manager presented a communication from the
City Treasurer regtixesting authorization to transfer X2.0,000
from the General Fund to the Payroll Fund.
~~dhereupon, it was moved by Councilman Pearson,
seconded by Councilman Daetweiler, that acid authorization be
granted. All members voting aye, tho Mayor declared the motion
duly carried.
The City Manager requested authorization to acquire
a used motor grader on a rental-purchae a basis from the Shepherd
Tractor & Equipment Company for X3500 at X500 per month. It wa,s
moved by Councilman Sneddon, seconded by Councilman Bruner, that
the City Manager be authorized to negotiate for the rental-
purchase of the above equipment.

The City Manager stated that the terms of Recreation
Commissioners Beverly Mattoon and Arthur Mueller have expired.
• Whereupon, it was moved by Councilman Pearson, seconded by
Councilman Daetweiler, that Mrs. Mattoon and Mr. Mueller be
re-appointed to terms of four years. All members voting aye,
the Mayer declared the motion duly carried.
The Clerk preae:~ted a communication from Mr. Dean
Carson wherein he requested. cancellation of his present City
franchise for the Crosstown Bus Lines.

Thz Clerk further stated that the City has receive
Mr. Carson's check covering the 2;$ grosa revenue fee to July
31, 1953.
Whereupon, an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE REPEAL-
ING ORDINANCE N0. X19 CANCELLING AND TERMINATIPdG FRANCHI~3E OF
DEAN CARSON TO CONDUCT, MAINTAIN, AND OPERATE INTRA-MUNICIPAL
MOTOR BUS LINES FOR THE TRANSPORTATION OF PASSENGERS AND THEIR
HAND BAGGAGE, FOR HIRE, WHOLLY WITHIN THE CITY OF LYNWOOD, OVER,
UPON, AND ALONG THE STREETS, HIGHWAYS, ALLEYS, BOULEVARDS,
AVENUES, ROADS, AND OTHER PUBI;IC PLACES AS PRESCRIBED IN SAID
gRDINANCE 1w19; FIXING THE COMPENSATION AND SPECIFYING THE
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SAID FRANCHISE AND AMENDING ORDINANCE
