Councilmen Bruner, Fearson, Fender, and Willard answered the ro~_1 call. Councilwoman McMeekin was absent. The Clerk presented the home occupation application of ]Harrison Virtue to sell excess orchid plants and flowers at h~.s home at 12001 Lindbergh Street, It was moved by Councilman Fender, seconded by Councilman vdillard, that said permit be granted. All members present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. The Mayor inquired if there were any oral communications. There was no response. The Manager presented a petition requesting the installa~ tion of boulevard stop signs on Benwell Drive at Le Sage and. Lilita Streets. It was moved by Councilman Willard, seconded by Council- man Fender, that said request be referred to the Traffic Authority for investigation and. report, All members present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. The City Manager presented his report on the bids re- ceived at the last regular meet~.n~° for fu?~nisr~ing ~;he City of Lynwood two motorcycles and one police car and recommended. that R. A. Zinn be awarded the bid on the police motorcycles ar.d Southland Motors be awarded the bid on the police car. It was waved by Councilman Pearson, seconded by Councilman Fender, that the Council concur in the recommendations of the City Manager and authorize the purchase off' said vehicles. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Bruner, Pearson, Fender, and ~Tillard.. Noes: None, Absent: Councilwoman McMeekin. The City Manager recommended that portable bleachers be installed at the natatorium and requested a~atharizaticr. to advertise far the installation o~ same, It was mo~red by Council- man Pearson, a~conded by Councilman Fender, that the City Manager be authorized to advertise for bids for the installation ofb portable bleachers as per specifications in the natatorium, A11. members present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carriedn The City Manager presented the final map of Tract No. 18629 (Yaffe) and recommended that the map be approved sur~ject to the owner filing a faithful performance lnond guaranteeing the construction of the required improvemPnts.in +:he amount of $13,100. It was moved by Councilman vdillard, seconded by Council- man Pearson, that the Council concur in the recommendation of the City Manager and accept on behalf of the City the streets, avenues, and drives for dedication. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Bruner, Pearson, Fender, and Willard. Noes: None. Absent: Councilwoman McMeekin. The City Manager presented the following personnel '°'"" recommendations: That 4dalter 0. Greenslitt and Edward C. Cartwright having completed their six months probationary period satisfactorily, be appointed on a permanent basis and advanced to the next salary step of $310 per month, effective October 16, 1974 and October 26, 1954, respectively; That Fireman Q7ack Sisemore be advanced to $375 per month, effective November 1, 1954. It was moved by Councilman Pender, seconded by Council- man Pearson, that the Council concur in the recommendations of the City Manager. All members present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motf.on duly carried. The City Manager presented a letter from Paul W. Kerr, Ch~.ef of Police, wherein he stated that on December 4 of this year he will have completed 2~ years of service with the City of Lynwood and requested. the City Council to accept his resigna- tion effective on that date, due to his present condition of health. Whereupon, i.t was moved by Councilman Willard, :seconded by Councilman Pender, that said. resignation be accepted with regrets. All members present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried, The City Manager stated that it would be necessary to make a temporary interim appointment pending a civil service examination. The City Manager presented a request from the Recreation Commission wherein they requested that an additi©nal custodian be employed. at the Community Center and new cooking ranges be installed in the kitchen., The Manager stated that at the present time there is one full time and one part time custodian employed. at the Center and recommended that no more additional help be employed at the present time. He further stated that in checking the condition of the stoves that his only recommendation would be the installation of oven controls and recommended that no action be taken on the installation of new stoves. It was moved by Councilman Willard, seconded by Councilman Pearson, that the Council concur in the recommendation of the City Manager. All members present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. It was moved by Councilman Willard, seconded. by Council- man Pearson, that the demands presented at the meeting of November 3, 1954, having been regularly audited, are hereby allowed and approved and. warrants ordered drawn on the Cit;~ '~~°easurer there- for in accordance with and to the payees named and. the funds indicated in the several demands hereby approved.
