Councilmen Bruner, McMeekin, Pearson, and Willard answered the roll call. Councilman Pender was absent. ...,, The Clerk presented RESOLUTION N0. 2611 entitled "A RESOLUTION AND ORDER OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD, CALIFORNIA, ELECTING TO PAY OUT OF MUNICIPAL FUNDS SIXTY PER CENTUM (60~) OF THE AMOUNT OF TAX WHICH WOULD OTHERWISE BE LEVIED UPON PROPERTY WITHIN SAID CITY OF LYNWOOD BY AND FOR THE METROPOLITAN WATER DISTRICT OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 1955 AND ENDING JUNE 30, 1956, AND PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT THEREOF," It was moved by Councilman Willard, seconded by Councilman Pearson, that said Resolution be adopted. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Bruner, McMeekin, Pearson, and Willard. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Pender. ORDINANCE N0. 63o entitled "AN ORDINANCE OF THE INCOR- PORATED CITY OF LYNWOOD ESTABLISHING TAX DISTRICT NUMBER 1 OF SAID CITY, FIXING THE RATES OF TAXES, AND LEVYING TAXES FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 1955 AND ENDING JUNE 30, 1956." was presented. It was moved by Councilwoman McMeekin, seconded by Councilman Pearson, that further reading be waived, All members present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. It was moved by Councilman Willard, seconded by Council- woman McMeekin, that said ordinance be adopted as read for the second time, finally pass, and be published as required by law. Roll Call: ,,.._, Ayes: Councilmen Bruner, McMeekin, Pearson, and Willard. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Pender. The Manager stated he had received approval from the Division of Highways and requested authorization to advertise for bids for the surfacing of Imperial Highway from Long Beach Boulevard to Bullis Road. It was moved by Councilman Pearson, seconded by Councilwoman McMeekin, that said authorization be granted as requested. All members present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. It was regularly moved by Councilwoman McMeekin, seconded by Councilman Willard, that the demand presented at the meeting of August 23, 1955, having been regularly audited., is hereby allowed and approved and warrant ordered drawn on the City Treasurer therefor in accordance with and to the payee named. and the fund indicated on the demand hereby approved.
