HomeMy Public PortalAboutM 1956-06-06 - CC@~c SPECIAL MEETING JUNE 6,.1956 _._____ The .City Council of the City of Lynwood met in a special session in the City Hall, 11330 Bullis Road, on above date at 4:00 p.m. Mayor Compton in the chair. Councilmen Compton,. Finch, McMeekin, Pender, and Summers answered the roll call, The Mayor explained that the purpose of calling this special meeting was to consider the actions of Officers iiilliam Cole and Leonard Blake while on-duty on .May 24 and 25,-and to take disciplinary action .against said officers, if found necessary. The Ma nager..submitted for the Councils study reports from Officers Cole, Blake, and Freeman, Lt. Dederick, Captain OtShaughnessy, and Chief of Police Dayton. After considerable discussion, it was moved by Mayor Compton, seconded. by Councilman Pender, that Officer Cole be sus- pended for a period of two days without pay, for taking city equip- ment out of the city without authority, while on duty, and that Officer Blake be suspended for one day without pay for taking city equipment out of the city without authority, while on duty, said suspensions to be during regular working days. -After discussion on the question, Councilman Pender withdrew his second. to the motion, and the .motion died for lack of a second. ma n in of It was moved. by Councilman Summers, seconded by Council- .Finch, that Officers. Cole .and Blake .receive disciplinary action the form of a written reprimand for taking city equipment out the city without authority; while on duty. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Finch and Summers. Noes: Councilmen Compton, McMeekin, and Pender. Absent: None. It was moved by Mayor Compton, seconded by Councilman Summers, that Officers Cole and Blake be suspended for a period ~ of one day without pay for taking city equipment out of the city, and being temporarily absent from duty without permission. Roll Call: Ayes: .Councilmen Compton, Finch,.Pender, and Summers. Noes: Councilwoman McMeekin, Absent; None.
