SPECIAL MEETING-JULY 21~ 1956 The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in a special session in the-City Hall, 11330 Bullis Road, on-above date at 10:00 a.m. Mayor Compton in the chair. Councilmen Compton, Finch, Pender, and Summers answered. tYie roll .call. Councilwoman McMeekin was absent. The Mayor explained the purpose of themeeting was to '-"'~' consider personnel matters in the Police Department and to take disciplinary action, if necessary. -The Mayor presented a communication signed by the Chief of Police, Police Captain, and Police Lieutenant. Before the communication was read by the Mayor, Officer Crow requested that the personnel matter be discussed privately in an executive session. It was moved by Councilman Summers, seconded by Council- man Finch, that the Council adjourn to an .executive session to discuss personnel matters, at Officer Crowts request. Councilwoman McMeekin arrived and took her place. Roll Call: Ayes: ,Councilmen Compton, Finch, McMeekin, Pender, and Sununers . Noes: None. Absent: None. At the conclusion of the executive sessions the Mayor again called the special meeting to order. The Chief of Police requested that his recommendation contained. in the communication presented. to the City Council be withdrawn. After considerable discussion, it was moved by Council- man Finch, seconded by Councilman Summers, that in view of the fact that the Chief of Police has withdrawn his recommendation, ,~,,, that the entire personnel matter under discussion be referred to the Police Department Administrators for further consideration and action by them or return to the City Council with a further recommendation. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Finch and Summers. Noes: Councilman Compton, McMeekin, and Pender. Upon further discussion, it was moved by Councilman Finch, seconded by Councilman Summers, that the personnel matter under discussion be referred to the administrators of the Police Department, either to be disposed of by them or resubmitted to the Council with a .recommendation. Ayes: Councilmen Finch, McMeekin, Pender, and Summers. Noes: Councilman Compton. Absent: None.
