Councilmen Compton, Fincna McMeekin, Pe~nder, a~~d. Summers answered the roll call. The Mayor presented. a written waiver of notice of special meeting signed. by all members of the City Council, and waiver of notice of said. special meeting signed. by representatives of the Lynwood Press and Lynwood, Herald-American, respectively. The Mayor stated that the .purpose of said. special meeting was as follows: (a) To discuss the question as to what affect, ~f any, the appealing of the case of John M. Crow v. City of Lynwood might have upon discipl.~nary action against and/or tre separation from the service of Lynwood of other employees in the classified. Civil Service of said. City; (b) To discuss -the question as to whether or not to employ the law firm of Robertson, Harney, Drummond and Dorsey to prosecute the appeal of the above entitled. action, and the amount of the compensation to be paid said. attorneys for said appeal, The City Attorney advised. the City Council that appealing the case of .John M. Crow could have n.o affect upon future hearings regarding separation'~rom service of other employees. The City Manager stat~:d. that in checking with the law firm of Robertson, Harney, Drummond and Dorsey that he was quoted a figure of approximately 1,500.00 to represent the City in prosecuting the appeal of judgment of Judge Frank C..Charvat commending the City to order and. fix a date for a public hearing of the consideration of the discharge of John M. Crow. .There followed considerable discussion regarding-the advisability of retaining said law firm, Whereupon, it was moved. by Councilman Finch, seconded. by Councilman P nder, that the question of employing the law firm of Robertson, Harney, Drummond and Dorsey be tab;~ed for further discussion at the next regular meeting of the City Council. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Compton, Finch, McMeekin, Pend.er, and Summers. Noes: None. Absent: None. It was moved. by Councilman Pender, seconded by Council- man Finch, that the meeting be adjourned.
