The City Council of the City of Lynwood. met in a regular
session in t'he City Hall, 11330 Bullis road, on above date at 7:30
p.m.
Mayor Compton in the chair.
Councilmen Compton, Finch, McMeekin, and Summers

Editor of the Southeast Section of the Mirror-News requesting that

future, as peer suction 54956 of the Gcavernment Code. The Clerk also
~.n:f'ot'mod the C~auz~cil that the Lynwood. Press and. Herald.-American have
fi~,ed letters ~'equesting that they also be notified. of any special
'`~~'~ ring of the City Council . It was moved by Councilwoman McMeekin,

The Clerl~: presented a communication from the City of
`-Cox'' ance roquo~ting t~~e City Council to support their efforts in
obt~ain~-ng e~e~npt~.on ~'~~am State sales and gas tax for municipalities.
After d~,scussion regarding the merits of said exemption, it was
moved by Cpunci.lman Finch, seconded. by Councilman Summers, that the
x°equest be tabled and. the Clerk provide the Council with estimates
of how m~~c~~ the City would save by said. exemption. All members
pr'oson~% voting aye, the Mayor declared. the motion duly carried.
RESOLUTION NO> 2754 entitled ''A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY

The..•Manager presented the Division of Highways memorandum "'"""
of agreement covering proposed. expenditure of gas tax funds within
the city for the 1957-58 fiscal. year, in accordance with the project
statement submitted earlier by the City of Lynwood..
Whereupon, RESOLUTION N0. 2755 entitled."RESOLUTION OF
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD ADOPTING BUDGET AND APPROVING
MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT FOR EXPENDITURE OF GAS TAX ALLOCATION FOR
MAJOR CITY STREETS " was presented.. It was moved. by Councilwoman

The Manager stated that with the increased. demands being
made upon the city to trim parkway trees, and to service high street
lights 8nd signs, he recommended. that -b ids be advertised to furnish
t~~e City with a mobile aerial tower. It was moved by Councilwoman
McMeek~,n, seconded by Councilman Finch, that the Council concur
wit~~ the recommendation of the City :tanager and. authorize advertising
fo~^ bids .for the purchase of said. piece of equipment. All members
present voting &ye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried..
The City Manager presented. the following personnel
recozr~e;r~dations: That the resignation of Charles Edmondson, Street
Departnten't Maintenance Man, be accepted. effective July 17, 1957
That C. L. Wakefield, Park Department Maintenance Man,
~~~~ ae~vanced to the third step at $335.00 per month, effective
~~~~~a~ f~ `~ , ~ 957 ~.

All members present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly'
carried.
't'he; Manager presented. the following personnel changes in
the Fol,ice D~~pa~Atment for the Councilts information:
Ofi'icer Daniel R. Leddy to be advanced to $481,00 per
month, effective August 1, 1.957;
C)ffir;er Clarence E. Henderson to be advanced. to $420.00
per> month, effective August 1 , 1957
'1'ho Managua presented. a communication from Arnold Robles,
Rec:reat~on Director, notifying the Council that the terms of Mrs.
Lou Mattoon and. Mr. Arthur Mueller as Recreation Commissioners
expired June 30, 1g~7. Following a discussion as to whether the
two commissioners desired. reappointment, which Mr. Robles said that
they d.o, it was moved by Councilwoman McMeekin, seconded. by Council-
man Finch, that Mrs. Lou, Mattoon and. Mr. Arthur Mueller be reappointed.

nuisance ordinance which has been prepared. by the City Attorney.
Councilman Finch requested. that Civilian Defense Director
David.. MacArthur be present at the next regular meeting and. present
a report on the status of the Lynwood Civilian Defense program.
1'he Mayor inquir.~ed if there were any oral communications.
Mr. Miliron, 314$ Carlin Avenue, addressed the Council
regarding the apathy o.f Civilian Defense on a local level.
