Councilmen Compton, Finch, McMeekin, and. Fender answered, the roll call. Councilman Summers was absent. It was moved. by Councilwoman McMeekin, seconded. by Council- man Finch, that the minutes of the regular meeting of August 20, 1857 be approved. as written. All members present voting aye, the Mayor ~" declared the motion duly carried.. i ORDINANCE N0. 664 entitled. "AN ORDINANCE OF THE INCORPORATED . ~iITY OF LYNWOOD ESTABLISHING TAX DISTRICT NUMBER 1 OF SAID CITY, FIXING THE RATES OF TAXES, AND LEVYING TAXES FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 1957 AND ENDING JUNE 30, 1858." was presented for the second. time. It was moved by Councilman Finch, seconded by Councilwoman McMeekin, that further reading be waived.. All members present voting aye, the Mayor declared. the motion duly carried.. It was moved. by Councilman Finch, seconded by Councilman Fender, that said ordinance be adopted. as read. for the second time, finally pass, and be published. as required by law. Roll Call. Ayes: Councilmen Compton, Finch, McMeekin, and. Fender. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Summers. ORDINANCE NO. 665 entitled "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE N0. 570 FOR THE PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION OF CERTAIN PROPERTIES <;;,,r.~ AND THE ADOPTION OF AN AMENDED SECTION OF THE ZONING MAP WHICH IS ,`'~;,r. A PART OF SAID ORDINANCE N0. 570" was presented. for the second. time. It was moved, by Councilwoman McMeekin, seconded. by Councilman Finch, that further reading be waived.. All members present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. -• It was moved. by Councilwoman McMeekin, seconded by Coun- cilman Pend.er, that said ordinance be adopted as read for the second. time, finally pass, and. be published. as required. by law. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Compton, Finch, McMeekin, and. Fender. No e-s : None . Absent: Councilman Summers. The Engineer stated- that final costs for Project No. 81 (improvement of Wright Road.) and Project No. 83 (Intersection Safety Lighting), have exceeded. approved estimates and., therefore, recom- mended to the City Council that they approve the expenditure of necessary additional funds for the completion of said. projects from Special Gas Tax Funds. .Whereupon, it was moved. by Councilman Finch, seconded. by Councilman Pend.er, that the City Council approve the ad.d.itional expenditure of $243.00 for Project No. 81 and $505.00 for Project No. 83 from available contingency funds as set forth in the Memorandum of Agreement, and. request that such approval be given by the Division of Highways. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Compton, Finch, McMeekin, and. Fender. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Summers. The Clerk presented. a communication from Councilman L. F. Summers, who was unable to attend. the meeting, explaining his position on negotiated. versus open bidding for the disposal of garbage and. trash, wherein he stated. he is in favor of the Council studying the proposed. contract with the present collector and ~- accepting it, if it is found. satisfactory. It was moved by Council- man Fender, seconded by Councilman Finch, that said. communication be acc_,epted and. filed.. All members present voting aye, the .Mayor declared. the motion duly carried. ~~ There followed. considerable-discussion on the question of whether to advertise for bids for the disposal of garbage and ~~~ trash or to negotiate with the present contractor, with rio action being taken. Mayor Compton stated that the Council should. take some action at the next meeting as the present contract expires October 31, 1957. It was moved. by Councilman Finchr seconded by Councilman Pend.er, that the meeting be ad.journed..
