of September 16, 1958 be approved as written, All members

The Clerk presented a communication fr°om the Lynwood
Chamber of Commerce wherein they requested. the City to
advance the Chamber $3,000 for the purchase of approxi-
mately 300 candy canes for use as Christmas decorations
on city sfreet light standards, with repayment to the city
to ~be made at the rafe of not less than $800 per year.
The Chamber also requested. the city to furnish the neces-
sary pole brackets and. arrange for the installation and.
removal of the decorations.
After considerable discussion, it was moved. by Councilman
Summers, seconded. by Councilman English, that the City
Attorney be instructed. to prepare an agreement between
the Chamber of Commerce and. the city for the advancement
of4,000, with repayment to be made at not less than $800
per year with the Chamber of Commerce to maintain and. store
the decorations and. the city to install and. remove them,
said. agreement to be submitted. for the CouncilQS considera-
tion at the next regular meeting.

Workers of America requesting the Council to adopt a
resolution opposing Proposition 18 which will appear on
the November 4 ballot. It was moved. by Councilman Fender,
seconded by Councilman Summers, that said. communication
be accepted and filed.. .All members voting aye, the Mayor
declared. the motion duly carried..
The Clerk presented. Planning Commission Resolution No.207
which was held. over from the last regular meeting which
confirmed. and approved. a variance to permit the construc-
tion of a second. dwelling unit of approximately 700 square
feet, as per plot plan on file, on Lots 13 and. 14, Block
7, Tract 7816. The City Attorney stated. that he felt that
this variance was deviating from the general purpose of
variances as defined. in the zoning ord~.nance.

Annex #9 and. :nine others requesting the annexation of territory
bounded. by Atlantic Avenue on the east, Carlin Avenue on the
south, th.e City of Lynwood- boundary on the west, and. Fernwcod
Avenue on the north., to the City of Lynwood. The Clerk stated.
that the Planning Commission has recommended. this annexation,
and. it would. now be ir. order for the City Council to conser..t
to the commencement of proceedings for the annexation of said
territory.
It was moved. by Councilman English, seconded. by Councilman
Pender, that the Council consent to the annexation of the
territory to be known as "Ozell Manor Annexation No. 9."
