The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in a regular
session in the City Ha1~., x.1330 Bul.~-is Raad., on above
date at 7:30 p.m.
Mayor Finch in the chair,
Councilmen English, Finch, Pender, Rowe, and Summers
answered. the .roll call,
It was moved by Councilman Pender, seconded by Councilman.
English, that the minutes of the previous regular meeting;
of Tune 16, 1959 be approved. as written. All members
voting-aye, the Mayor declared. the motion duly carried..

first time and pass to the second. reading.

The Clerk presented communications from the cities of County taxing
Alhambra and Inglewood asking the City of Lynwood to ,loin ~.nequities
with them in requesting the Board pf Supervisors to reduce
the taxing inequities that exist between the incorporated.
and unincorporated area,
After discussion of the .proposed. County budget and. the
inequities that exist between incorporated. and. unincor-
porated. areas,. it was moved by Counc~.~.rr~an fender, seconded.
by Councilman Rgwe, that the City Clerk, on behalf of the
City Council, be instructed to request the Board of Super-,
visors of the County of ~,os Angeles. to exercise economy
in the ~.95g-60 budget, and t~k~ the steps necessary to
reduce the taxing inequ~.ties that exist between ineorpora-
ted. and. unincorpprated areas. All members voting aye, the
Mayor declared the motion dull carried.
The Clerk presented the City Attorne~rts report on the Jun~.or Cham-

Hickman - which denied the application of ~°len H. Hickman for a variance
Hearing set to permit the construction of two dwelling units over a garage,
on appeal, as per plot plan on file, on Lot 88 and. the north lOt of Lot
89, Tract No. 5632 (10906 Ruth Street), The Clerk also pre-
sented. a communication from the applicant appealing the
decision of the .Planning Commission. Tt was moved. by Council-
rnan English, seconded. by Councilman .Summers, that a hearing
on the appeal of the .applicant be held. on July 7, 1959, at
7:30 p;m., and. the Clerk instructed to do the necessary
posting and. publishing, as required. by the zoning ordinance.
All members voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly
carried.
Cancellation The Clerk presented. a request from .the City Treasurer for
of checks & authorization to cancel 11 outstanding checks and warrants,
warrants totaling 38.97. It was moved by Councilman Pender, seconded.
authorized. by Councilman Rowe, that the City Treasurer be authorized. to
cancel said. warrants and. checks.

The Clerk presented. the following Grant Deicis executed by
