AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE BOROUGH OF
CARTERET AND THE URBAN ENTERPRISE ZONE FOR THE CARTERET
UEZ DOWNTOWN BUSINESS DISTRICT PARKING PROJECT
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret Urban Enterprise Zone Board unanimously
recommends the adoption of a resolution requesting UEZ project funding for the
Downtown Business District Parking Project, an economic development capital project;
and
WHEREAS, The Borough of Carteret and the Urban Enterprise Board support the UEZ
Downtown Business District Parking Project, an economic development, capital project,
which will contribute as a catalyst to the expansion of Carteret's business districts and
redevelopment areas through new business capital investments and employment
opportunities; and
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret and the Urban Enterprise Board have reviewed the
proposed economic development project and support the UEZ funded Downtown
Business DistriciParking Expansion Project; and
WHEREAS, this funding allocation for the parking expansion project totals
$592,545.57, with allocations in the amount of $462,545.57 (Four Hundred Sixty Two
Thousand, Five Hundred and Forty Five Dollars, and 571100) funded by Carteret UEZ
Account Status balance for March 31, 2011, with $130,000.00 from the UEZ 2
generation account May 31, 2011; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.52.27H -88 ( c ), in order to fund the project from funds
deposited in the Enterprise Zone Assistance Fund, the governing body must adopt a
resolution approving the project and authorizing the submission of the project for
additional funding; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Carteret UEZ Board hereby
authorizes and directs this project to proceed using available UEZ funds as directed by
the Executive Director of the NJUEZ, Peter Lijoi in April 2011.
UEZ Downtown Business District Parking Project
To be funded from monies deposited in the Enterprise Zone Assistance Fund and credited
to the account of the Borough of Carteret, said account maintained by the State Treasurer
for the Enterprise Zone. -
