Councilmen English, .Finch, .Rowe, and S~;,m~ne:~~ answered. the roll call.. Coa~:ncilman Pender was absent. It was moved by Mayor Finch, seconded. by Councilman. Rowe, that the minutes of the meeting of January 5, 1960, be approved. as written. A11 members present voting aye, thE~ Mayor declared. the ..motion duly carried.. RESOLUTION N0. 60-2 entitled "RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD ALLOWING AND APPROVING THE REMANDS PRESENTED AND ORFaERING WARRANTS DRAWN .THEREFOR." was presented.. It was moved. by Councilman English, seconded by Councilman Rowe, that said resolution be adopted. Doll Call: Ayes: Councilmen English, Finch,. Rowe, and Summers. Noesa None. Absent: Councilman Pender: The hour of 7:30 p.m. having arrived, said hour being .the time fixed. for hearing on the proposed. vacation of the 10~ walkway between Atlantic Avenue and. the first alley east of Atlantic Avenue, the .Clerk .presented his affida- vits of posting and publication, and stated that no written or oral protests have been filed. to date on said. proposed. vacation. The .Mayor inquired if there were any present wishing to be heard. on sa d matter, Mr. Ernest Hoge, 11033 Wright Road., Mr. Howard.. King, 11695 A~Iantic Avenue, Mr. D.. F. Malloy, 11644 Atlantic Avenue, Mr. Roy Swedelson, 11631 Atlantic Avenue, Mr. R.B. Romaniello, 11631 Atlantic, Mr, E..R, Doman, 11670 Virginia, and. Mrs. Ardis Mahan, 11650 Virginia, all addressed. the Council protesting the proposed. vacation on the grounds that said walkway is used. by the .residents of the neighborhood.. It was moved by Councilman English, seconded by Council man Summers, that said hearing be concluded, All members present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried.. It was moved. by Councilman Summers, seconded. by Council- man English, that the .Council concludes and finds from the evidence submitted that said. walkway is necessary for present and. prospective public purposes and. orders the abandonment of the .vacation proceedings of said lOP walk- way. The Clerk presented. a communication. from the .Lynwood. Sidewalk at Council of Parents and Teachers requesting the construction Bullis & P.E. of a sidewalk across the Pacific Electric right of way at .right of way Fernwood. and .Bullis Road. Fire Dept. The Clerk presented. a communication from the Metropolitan commended.. Tabernacle, 4330 Century Boulevard, commending the Fire .Department for its efficiency at a recent fire at the tabernacle, It was moved by Mayor Finch, seconded by Coun- cilrrPan Summers, that said. communication be accepted. and. forwarded to the .Fire Chief.. All members present voting aye, the Mayor declared. the motion duly carried.. Cancer . The Clerk presented. a communication from the American Cancer Society Fund Sdciety requesting permission to conduct a fund raising drive drive in the City during the .month of April. It was moved. by .approved. Councilman English, seconded by Councilman Summers, that said permission be granted., .All members present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried.. Crippled. The .Clerk presented. a communication from the Crippled. Child.ren~s ChildrenPS Society of Los Angeles County requesting permission Society - to conduct a fund-raising campaign in the City from March 17 fund. drive to April 17. It was moved. by Councilman Summers, seconded approved. by Councilman Englis2~, that said permission be granted.. Councilman English, seconded by Councilman Rowe, that the Council take .such action with the approval of the City Attorney. It was moved. by Councilman Summers, seconded. by Councilman English, that the Council concur in the recommendations of the License .Collector and grant said special permit. Mayor Finch requested the Manager to prepare a personnel policy handbook for the city employees, The Mayor inquired. if there were .any oral communications, There was no response.
