'lhe Cler'_~ pre.~ented a comm~zr~ication from George M. Hughes,
1.1.285 Thorson Avenue, statin`r that he was against the appro-
,riation of funds to be used for a fish pond in front of the
nev~~ commun.-ity bu.ilding,and he would like to discuss the
possibility of improving tree maintenance of certain conditions
that need irrimediate attention in the city park.
Community The I~[ayor• inquired if Mr. Hughes ;~aas present, and he was not.
Building The P~'Iayor stated that the architects were present to present
beautifica- their proposal for enhancing the appearance of the entrance

Mr. Swenson explained his design proposal and reasons for
using :>culptured fish of bronze and ceramic in the pool area
outside the bu.il.ding. He also presented for the Councils
view a rendering and model of h.s proposal.
After considerable discussion by members of the Council and
Mr. Swenson, the Mayorr_equested him to submit alternate
proposals tha% would add beauty to the structure, for the
CouncilTS consideration.

31316 Lugo Avenue, and Mr. Richard Carlisle-, 3812 Walnut
Avenue, requested that streei~ lights be installed in the
all°y east of Bullis Road ~.~etva~:en Walnut Avenue and
Cortland. The Mayor referred said request to the City
Eng_i.neE:~r for investigation anal report.
Tne ~~lerk presented Planning r;o_mtniss:ion Resolution No, 242
w~iich denied the application of ~?Irs. Aline Maltsburger for
a v-zfa:i one to perrni~t the construr:t;ion of a second dwelling
~.znit of approximately 850 sq~~zar°e f'ee.t, as per plot plan on
fi1.e., ~-~n Lot 52, Tract 1.0503 ~3~31 Louise). The Clerk
st,at;ed that the applicant has not ?nude an appeal to the

Tire Tanager presented a request from the City Engineer for
authorization to advertise for bids for resurfacing of the
south :rpoadway of Fernwood Avenue between Bullis Road and
State Street. It was moved by Councilman Duncan, seconded
by Councilman English, that t;he Cau.ncil approve said plans
and specifications and authori•.~e the advertising for bids.

The Manager presented a report from the City Engineer
wherein he recommended installation. of a traffic signal
from .State Gasoline Tax funds on Imperial Highway at
~~-ackson Avenue, to provide for the progessive movement of
traff'i_c on Imperial Highway. Af ter discussion of the
m~~~rits of said traffic signal, i.t was moved by Mayor'Finch,
seconded by Councilman English., that said matter be tabled
until. the next regular meeting. All rnembc~rs present voting
