CALL TO ORDER
The Special Council Meeting was called to order on August 28, 1997, 6:30 P.M. with Mayor
Duane Schreimann presiding.
ROLL CALL
The following Council Members were present:
Present: Byrd, Haake, Jackson, Landwehr, McDowell, Nelson, Nilges, Stella and
Vincent
Absent: Jaynes
A quorum was declared present.
BILLS PENDING
Bill 97 -64, sponsored by Councilman Nilges, entitled:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, PROVIDING FOR THE
LEVY OF CITY TAXES AND ESTABLISHING THE RATE OF TAXATION FOR THE CITY OF
JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, FOR THE YEAR 1997.
Bill 97 -64 was read third time by title and placed on final passage. Councilman Rick Nilges
made a motion to amend Section 1 of Bill 97 -64 by reducing the general levy from $.52 to
$.48, as follows:
FIRST: For the purpose of paying all current expenses of the City of
Jefferson, Missouri, for the fiscal year, the sum of $.5248 on the one hundred
dollar valuation.
Motion was seconded by Councilman Charles Jackson. Councilman Carolyn McDowell
moved to amend the amendment by further reducing the levy one cent, to $.47. Motion was
seconded by Councilman James Haake and defeated by the following roll -call vote:
Aye: Byrd, Haake, Jackson, McDowell
Nay: Landwehr, Nelson, Nilges, Stella and Vincent
Following a brief discussion, the original amendment was then approved by the following roll -
call vote:
Aye: Byrd, Haake, Jackson, Landwehr, McDowell, Nelson, Nilges, Stella and
Vincent
Nay: None

Bill 97 -64 was then passed, as amended, by the following roll -call vote as Ord. No. 12653:
Aye: Byrd, Haake, Jackson, Landwehr, McDowell, Nelson, Nilges, Stella and
Vincent
Nay: None
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Council at this time, Councilman Bill
Byrd moved that the meeting be adjourned, seconded by Councilman James Haake and
approved unanimously at 6:45 P.M.
