Duhamel_ home The Clem: presented the application of Joseph Duhamel, 3J68
occupation Louise Street, for permit to conduct the business of rc~f~rigera~
pe.r.r:~it t.ion service and maintenance within his home. The Clerk
application stated that the necessary cards had been mailed, with one
withdrawn, objection filed, and that the Building Inspector ha~~~ issued
the necessary Certificate of Occupancy.
Mr. Duhamel addressed the Council and stated that only tele~
phone calls would be received and no repairs would be done at
the home. After discussion as to whether or not a permit
would be needed, Mr. Duhamel withdrew his application.
Home occupa- Councilman English requested the Council to review the present

and recommendations relative to the occupations conducted

Traffic The Clerk presented the City EngineerTS report on the bids

Hahn low Jackson Avenue wherein he recommended that said contracts be
bidder, awarded to the low bidder, William R. Hahn.

The ~:"lerak presented the City AttorneyQS report regarding
the disE;lay of flags on holidays by civic organization
whE:rej_r1 h.e recorrmiended that the Council authorize the
placing of holiday flags as a project of the Boy Scouts
exclusively, provided that the Scouts agree to be the
sole organization responsible for the placing of such
flags. It was moved by Councilman Finch, seconded by
Councilman Duncan, that the Council concur in the recom-
m.endations of the City Attorney and authorize him to pre-
pare the necessary agreement. All members voting aye, the
Mayor declared the motion duly carried.
'fhe Clerk presented a communication from the City Attorney
whe:rain he requested permission to join with City Attorneys
Bullock,of Compton, and Sorensen, of Downey, in suggesting
amendments to the Metropolitan Transit Authority~s proposed
legislation. It was moved by Councilman Duncan, seconded
by Cou.ncil_man Finch, that the Council grant said permission
and go on record as opposing the Metropolitan Transit
Authority~s proposed legislation in its present form. All
members voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly
carried .
The Manager presented oral reports concerning additional.
grade crossings and pedestrian crossings in Fernwood
Avenue. He also presented a Health Department report
on the Tovatt Truck Terminal.
The Manager reported that the 1961-~62 tentative budget
would be ready f'or the CouncilTS study early next week,
and requested that the Council consider conducting an
ad jourraed rneEsting to discuss catering and maintenance of
the Corr~nunity Service Building which is near completion.
