Councilmen Duncan, Finch, Ham, McMillan and Siokos answered the roll call. Purpose of The Mayor stated that the purpose of the special meeting Meeting was to give the various city employee groups anc,opportunity to present salary and fringe benefit requests td the Council for their consideration in the preparation of the 1864-65 city operational budget. Employee Mr. Charles McPherson, representing the City Employees Association Association, requested the Council to give consideration to requests. the following requests: a. General 2-step salary increase. b. A widow and survivor benefit program, as offered by the State Employees Retirement System. c. Increase vacation benefits to allow 21 ca~.endar days annual vacation after 7 years of employment. d, Eliminate maximum amount of time that can be accumulated for sick leave benefit purposes. Police Dept. Mr. Richard Kryger, representing the Police Officers requests. Association,stated that in addition to the employees Association requests, the Police Department group asks that consideration be given to: a. Increase off-duty court time pay allowance to a 60-hour maximum in a 6-month period. b. Increase holiday allowance to 8 days per year. Fire Dept. Mr. Robert Taylor, representing the Firefighters Association, requests. requested that, in addition to the Employees Association requests, the firements work week be shortened to 65 hours per week, and that salaries be increased to the average of other fire departments in Area E. Rokos re Mr. Jerry Rokos, 12217 Bullis Road, addressed the Council police and requested that special consideration be given t© salary salaries. increases to members of the Police Department only, in order to make such employment more attractive. The City Council discussed the requests with the various individuals present, with no action on any of the requests.
