REGULAR MEETING SEPTE!y?BER 15, 1964 The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in a regular session in the City Hall, 11330 Bu.llis Road, on above date at 7;30 p.m. Mayor McMillan in the chair. Councilmen Duncan, Ham, McMillan and Siokos answered the roll call. Councilman Finch was absent. The Clerk stated that Councilman Finch had requested that „-~. his absence be excused as--he will be out of town at the time of the meeting. It was moved by Councilman Ham, seconded by Councilman Siokos, that Councilman Finches absence be excused. All members present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried, It was moved by Councilman Ha~~nni seconded by Councilman Siokos, that the minutes of the regular meeting of September 1, 1964, be approved as written. All members present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. RESOLUTION N0. 64-70 entitled: COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DEMANDS PRESENTED AND ORDERING was presented. It was moved by by Councilman Siokos, that said Roll Call: Ayes; Councilmen Duncan, Ham, Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Finch. "RESOLUTION OF THE CITY Res. 64-70 ALLOWING AND APPROVING THE Demands WARRANTS DRAWN THEREFOR." Councilman Ham, seconded resolution be adopted. McMillan, Siokos. The Clerk stated that the County Board of Supervisors has allocated $26,653.00 for the improvement and maintenance of streets of general county interest within the city limits for the fiscal year 1864-65, and it would be in order to adopt a resolution requesting approval of such expenditures: Whereupon, RESOLUTION N0. 64-71 entitled: "RESOLUTION REQUESTING APPROVAL OF EXPENDITURE OF GAS TAX MONIES FOR STREET MAINTENANCE IN THE CITY OF LYNWOOD." was presented. It was moved by Councilman Siokos, seconded by Councilman Duncan, that said resolution be adopted. -Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Duncan, Ham, McMillan, Siokos. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Finch. The Clerk presented a verif ied claim filed on behalf of Joyce Nelson, 13821-1 /2 Paramount Boulevard, Paramount, for personal injuries sustained as the result of a fall, The Clerk recommended that said claim be rejected and that it be referred to the insurance carrier for disposition. It was moved by Councilman Ham, seconded by Councilman Siokos, that the Council concur in the recommendations of the Clerk in rejecting said claim. All members preserxt voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. The Clerk presented the application of F. C. Roberts for a special permit to sell Christmas trees at 3540 Century Boulevard. He stated that Mr. Roberts has complied with the provisions of the ordinance and recommended granting said special permit for a period of time not to exceed 30 days. It was moved by Councilman Ham, seconded by Councilman Siokos, that said special permit to sell Christmas trees at 3540 Century Boulevard be granted. Addressing The Manager stated that that Co?~:r:.cil had previously equipment authorized the p°~.rchase of a new Addressograph ~machi:ne in the purchase Water Department, ~~~~d~ that rro outside offers have been with trade- received for the p~~a.~r°chase of the existing Addressonr.°a ph in approved, machine, and recommended that the city accept the trade-in offer of $150 made by the Addressograph-Multigraph Corporation on the purchase of the new equipment. 0 ~, Cam; It was moved by Councilman Ham, seconded by Councilman Siokos, that the Council concur in the recommendations of the Manager in accepting said offer. Ail members present voting aye, the Mayor declared the m~~tion duly carried, Quitclaim of The Manager stated that Mrs. Martha Losch has requested that easement the city quitclaim to her the existing water and sewer ease- approved ment on her property, Lot 130, Tract 5222. The Manager stated that the City of Lynwood no longer has a need for such ease- ments as the water and sewer lines are now located in the street and, therefore, recommended quitclaiming said easement. It was moved by Councilman Ham, seconded that the Council concur in the Managerts authorize the Mayor and Clerk to execute behalf of the city. Roll Call; Ayes; Councilmen Duncan, Ham, McMillan, Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Finch. by Councilman Siokos, recommendation and said quitclaim on Siokos. Parking in The Manager presented a report on the various way of improving city park the parking conditions along the nor°th side of the city park (extension of Beechwood Avenue, wherein he suggested eliminating through traffic by the construction of a cul de sac at the east end of the roadway, or that parking be moved to the south side and through traffic relegated to the north side. Following discussion of the feasibility of closing the street to through traffic, it was moved by Councilman Duncan, seconded by Councilman Ham, that the necessary authorization be made to allow parking on the south side of the roadway extending easterly from Birch Street. All members present voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion duly carried. Lugo Park The Manager introduced Mr. Hall Williamson and Mr. Merritt Morris, architects who are being considered for. the prepara- tion of construction plans for the improvement of Lugo Park. Messrs. Williamson and Morris presented renderings of the various parks they have designed and explained the various plans to the Council. It was agreed that the Council would, on September 2z3, inspect the various park designs.
