Phase I of
economic
survey of
City.

Councilmen Byork, Green, Siokos, Smith and Stevens
The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in an
adjourned regular session in the City Hall, 11330 Bullis
Road, on above date at 7:30 p.m.
Mayor Byork in the chair.
Mayor Byork announced that the regular meeting of
September 19 had been adjourned to this date in order
to discuss with members of the Planning Commission and
Dr. Tom Ashley of Economic Research Associates the first
phase of the economic research project.
Dr. Ashley stated that the purpose of the economic study is
to survey and analyze the economic environment of the city
of Lynwood and the surrounding area in order to determine
the growth potential and to plan the future economic
development of the community. He described the Lynwood
trade are and provided detailed statistics as to population
estimates, income, employment distribution trends in the
Lynwood labor market, employment growth trends and pro-
jected manufacturing employment and population in the
greater Lynwood labor market. Dr. Ashley explained the
significance of the information contained in the Phase I
progress report and stated that the objective of Phase II
is to prepare detailed estimates of future land use
demand and recommendations for optimum and alternative
development plans for the city.
After a brief discussion among .members of the Planning
Commission and City Council of various facts contained
in the Phase I report, it was moved by Councilman Smith,
seconded by Councilman Stevens, and carried, that the
meeting be adjourned.
