Councilmen Byork, Green, Liewer, Siokos,Stevens answered the roll call. Res. 69-56 RESOLUTION N0. 69-56 entitled: "RESOLUTION OF THE CITY Demands COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD ALLOWING AND APPROVING THE DEMANDS PRESENTED AND ORDERING WARRANTS DRAWN THEREFOR." was presented. It was moved by Councilman:. Liewer, seconded by Councilman Byork, that said resolution be adopted. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Byork, Green, Liewer, Siokos, Stevens. Noes: None. Absent: None. Discussion re Proposed remodeling of the police facilities was discussed. remodeling of At the request of the City Manager, the Police Chief police bldg. explained the proposed additions to the police building and rearrangement of the interior of the existing structure as shown on a drawing prepared by the architectural firm of Anthony & Langford. The advisability of obtaining more than one architectural proposal was discussed, and the City Manager suggested an informal conference with Marion Varner before making a final decision, as he is particularly qualified for planning a communication system and has done work in designing police and fire facilities. Functions of the several sections of the police department were described in order to relate to the proposed building expansion. It was agreed informally that the Council would meet informally with a Varner representative as soon as it could be arranged, either Monday, September 22 at 4:30 p.m. or Friday, September 26 at 4:30 p.m. The meeting was declared adjourned to executive session. Following the executive session, the Mayor called the meeting to order. It was moved by Councilman Siokos, seconded by Councilman Byork, that James Riley be named interim City Manager as of October 4, 1969. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Byork, Green, Liewer, Siokos, Stevens. Noes: None. Absent: None. Position of It was moved by Councilman Siokos, seconded by Councilman Asst. City Mgr Liewer, and carried, that the interim City Manager and the established City Manager be directed to investigate immediately the procurement of an Assistant City Manager, with a minimum experience of two years in planning, and to provide all necessary information as to salary and other requirements. The City Attorney commented that such a position is not an exception from the classified service and would require a job description. It was moved by Councilman Siokos, seconded by Councilman Byork, and carried, that a job description for Assistant City Manager be provided. J ~ 4~ It was moved by Councilman Siokos, seconded by Council- Public Works man Green, and carried, that if there is not presently Director a classification description for Public Works Director position that it be referred to the Personnel Board for established establishment of such a classification description.
