ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 3, 1971
The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in an
adjourned regular session in the City Hall, 11330 $ullis
Road, on above date at 7:30 p.m.
Mayor Green in the chair.

man Liewer, and carried, that Councilman Stevens'
absence be excused.
The discussion of the city's 50tih anniversary
celebration was opened by Mayor Green. The Chairman
of the Chamber of Commerce Anniversary Celebration
Committee, Mr. Jack Willard, stated the purpose of
the committee's meeting with the Council, and said
the committee has considered many possible activities
such as a formal banquet at Bateman Hall, contests
for oldest living mayor, Councilman, p.ostmaster,,etc.
The committee has had commemorative calendars made
which they plan to sell for $1.25 each. The striking
of a commemorative coin has been considered, and he
provided approximate costs of various types of coins.
Mr. Willard also described the historical research
he has done and the pictures he has acquired with a
view towards publishing a history of the city.
Preliminary investigation indicates that printing
of such a book will be far too costly; however,
he is awaiting a quotation from another source
before abandoning the idea of the book.
After considerable discussion of possible dates qn
which to hold the banquet, it was the consensus
that Thursday evening, June 24, would be the most
suitable date available. An earlier date for a
"kick-off" in order to have sufficient time for
sale of tickets ar commemorative material prior to
the actual time of observance was suggested.
The celebration was discussed in generalities with
the question of interim financing of the project
being of primary concern. Members of the committee
expressed the opinion that money would be needed to
carry the project until funds from the sale. of
banquet tickets, calendars, and possibly, commemorative
coins, is received. 2t was moved by Councilman
Liewer, seconded by Councilman Byork, that the
matter of the city .providing interim financing of-the
project be referred to the City Attorney as to what
the city can legally do.
