Councilmen Byork, Green, Liewer., Siokos, Stevens, answered the roll call. It was moved by Councilman Liewer, seconded by Councilman Byork, and carried, that the minutes of the regular meeting of March 16, 1971, be approved as written. Res. 71-19 RESOLUTION N0. 71-19 entitled: "A RESOLUTION OF Demands THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD ALLOWING AND APPROVING THE DEMANDS PRESENTED AND ORDERING WARRANTS DRAWN THEREFOR," was presented. It was moved by Councilman Liewer, seconded by Council- man Stevens, that said resolution be adopted. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Byork, Green, Liewer, Siokos, Stevens. Noes: None. Absent: None. Walter Read The Mayor announced that Mr. Walter Read has been presented a selected for honor as an Outstanding Citizen of plaque the community. Mr. Read was presented with a plaque noting his many years of dedicated community service, dating from the year 1944 to his present service as a member of the Planning Commission. Fair Housing The Mayor read a statement proclaiming the week Week of April 19 to 25 as "Fair Housing Week" within the City. ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS Ord. 888 ORDINANCE NO. 888 entitled: "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING Zone Change - ORDINANCE N0. 570 POR THE PURPOSE 0~' C~ASSI~'ICATION Study Area II ®~' CERTAIN PROPERTIES AND THE ADOPTION 0~' AN AMENDED SECTION 0~' THE ZONING MAP WHICH IS A PART 0~' SAID ORDINANCE," was presented for second reading. It was moved by Councilman Siokos, seconded by Councilman ~,iewer, and carried, that further reading be waivee~. It was moved by Councilman Siokos, seconded by Councilman Stevens, that said ordinance be adopted as read for the second time, Finally passed and be published as required by law. '11-21 entitled: "A RESOLUTION OF Res. 71-21 THE CITY COUNCIL OP' THE C~CTY OF LYNWOOD AUTHORIZING Authorizing THE DESTRUCTION OF CERTAIN PUBLIC RECORDS NO destruction of •-- LONGER REQUIRED," was presented. Absent: None. Mayor Green introduced Mr. Joe Cabori, 11261 Warren Avenue, representing the Lynwood Jaycees. Mr. Cabori presented the California State Champion- ship BB gun shooting team. He explained that the activity is open to boys and girls between the ages of 7 and 1~. He also presented Mr. Tom Bell who assists in training the children, and expressed appreciation for the valuable assistance of Mr. Don Snavely and Mr. Harold Mattoon of the Recreation and Parks Department. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS A letter l"rom the Chamber of Commerce expressing appreciation for sponsorship of the recent Business Education Day was read. It was moved by Councilman Byork, seconded by Councilman Stevens, and carried, that the letter be accepted and filed. A letter from William W. Wood, 3361 Beechwood, was read. Mr. Wood commended Officer James L. Smith and the Lynwood Fire Department Rescue Squad for the life-saving action they took when his mother was recently taken suddenly ill. The letter center described in detail the service that will be carried on at that location. Phase II Well The City Manager reported on the bids received for 19 contract construction of Phase II of Water We11 19. It was awarded to recommended that the Council award tree contract to Saunders Bros. the :low bidder, Saunders Brothers, for bid alternate #2 at the bid pr{ ~sG of ~25,`~54. It was moved by Councilman Sj.okos, seconded by Counc~.lman Liewer, that the Council concur in the Manager's recommendations in awarding r,he contract for F'hase TT construction of Water Well 1~, bid alternate #2, to Saunders Brothers. The Council was informed that on August 5, 1969, 30 foot drainage easements were accepted from Economic Resources Corporation in portions of the Watts Industrial Park (on Lots 2 and 3, Deed Nos. 516 and 518). Economic Resources Corporation has requested quitclaims of these unimproved drainage easements to allow the construction of a new industrial building. Approval of the quitlclaim deeds was recommended by the City Manager. It was moved by Councilman Siokos, seconded by Council- man Liewer, that the Council concur in the Manager's recommendation and approve execution of the said Drainage easement quitclaimed to ERC quitclaim deeds. COUNCIL STUDY The City Attorney presented the Council with copies Proposed Private of a proposed ordinance regulating private patrol patrol ord. operators, etc. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS Mr. Archie Legg, 3671 Platt Avenue, addressed the Council to inquire about the proposed ordinance regulating private patrol operators, and he was told that it was a study item and would not be acted upon at this meeting. The City Manager informed the Council that the first annual Police Reserve Recognition Banquet would be held on Friday, April 16. Adjournment to an executive session was requested by Councilman Siokos with the further request that Mrs. Gwen Tuttle be invited to loin the Council. Councilman Stevens asked for a study of parking. limitations at the northwest corner of Long Beach Boulevard and Euclid.
