ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 28, 1972
The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in an adjourned
regular session in the City Hall, 11330 Bullis Road, on
above date at 7:00 p.m.
Mayor Morris in the chair.
Councilmen Byork, Liewer, Morris, Rowe and Stevens
answered the roll call.
The Mayor declared the meeting adjourned to executive
session for the purpose of discussing personnel
matters.
Following the executive session, the meeting was called
to order.
Stephen It was moved by Councilman Byork, seconded by Councilman
Wright appt. Stevens, that Assistant City manager Stephen Wright
acting City be appointed Acting City Manager until such time as
Manager the City Council determines what it wishes to do.

MANAGEMENT STUDIES AND REPORTS
The revised operating budget for 1972-73 and addendum
proposing the deletion of certain capital items which
are dependent upon passage of Federal revenue sharing,
was presented for the Council's consideration. In
discussing the budget, the City Manager was asked to
seek a solution to the problem of emergency repairs tc
police vehicles during times City personnel is not
available or there is an excessive number of vehicles
in need of repair. The Council was informed that
the problem is presently being investigated.
The 1972-73 tax rate was discussed and the Manager stated
that the proposed budget is based on retention of the
existing rate of 79~ for general purposes and 22~ for
retirement purposes.
1972-73 It was moved by Councilman Byork, seconded by Council-
Budget man Liewer, that the 1972-73 operating budget and
adopted addendum be accepted.

Res. 72-89 RESOLUTION N0. 72-8g entitled: "A RESOLUTION OF THE
Fixing tax INCORPORATED CITY OF LYNWOOD ESTABLISHING TAX DISTRICT
rate for NUMBER 1 OF SAID CITY, FIXING THE RATES OF TAXES, AND
1972-73 LEVYING TAXES FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 1972,
AND ENDING JUNE 30, 1973," was presented. It was moved
by Councilman Liewer, seconded by Councilman Stevens,
and carried, that Resolution No. 72-8g be adopted.
A report on the proposed police facility was presented
with the recommendation that the Council approve an

addendum to the agreement between the City and Anthony
and Langford for the revision of the plans for the
police facility as outlined in the accompanying study.
It was moved by Councilman Stevens, seconded by
Councilman Rowe, that the Council authorize the
architect to proceed as outlined in the study.

CITY CLERK'S AGENDA
It was moved by Councilman Liewer, seconded by
Councilman Byork, and carried, that the claim for
damage filed on behalf of Burton Terry and Mable
Craft be denied and .referred to the City's
insurance carrier.
It was moved by Councilman Stevens, seconded by
Councilman Liewer, and carried, that the request
of the United Crusade for permission to conduct
a fund campaign from September 15 to December 15,
1972, be approved.

It was moved by Councilman Byork, seconded by Council- Angeles Girl
man Liewer, and carried, that the Angeles Girl Scout Council
Scout Council'a request for permission to conduct Cookie Sale
their annual cookie sale in 1973 be approved.
COUNCIL AGENDA
The City Attorney gave a brief report on the law
suit relative to the 105 freeway and informed the
Council that the City of Lynwood, along with
five other cities, is now a party to the suit.
PUBLIC BUSINESS FROM THE FLOOR
Mr. Bill Greenawalt, Chamber of Commerce president,
commended the Council for not increasing the tax
rate for the coming year.
It was moved by Councilman Byork, seconded by
Councilman Rowe, and carried, that the meeting
be adjourned to September 5, 1972, at 7 p.m.
