HomeMy Public PortalAboutM 1973-03-12 - CCli~~ ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING MARCH 12, 1973 The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in an adjourned regular session in the City Hall, 11330 Bullis Road, on above date at x+:30 p.m. ,..., Mayor Morris in the chair. Councilmen Byork, Morris, Rowe and Stevens answered the roll call. The City Manager presented a review of the proposed formation of a community redevelopment agency and the procedural steps required, as contained in detail in a written report submitted to the Council. He informed the Council that to carry out all the actions, it is necessary to proceed without delay in order that formation of the agency can be completed prior to August 21, 1973, the effective date of the equalized assessment roll. As the first action in creation of a redevelopment agency, he presented an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DECLARING THE NECESSITY FOR A REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY TO FUNCTION IN SAID CITY," and recommended its adoption. It was moved by Councilman Byork, seconded by Councilman Liewer, that the ordinance be read by title only. Roll call: Ayes: Councilmen Byork, Liewer, Morris, Rowe, Stevens. A report on the proposals of two firms previously interviewed by the Council with regard to consulting services for a community redevelopment agency was presented by the City Manager, who recommended the following: (1) that the Council authorize the Mayor to execute an agreement between VTN Corporation and the City of Lynwood for an economic and market analysis of the proposed redevelopment area (bounded by Imperial Highway, Long Beach Boulevard, Fernwood Avenue .and State Street), for a total fee not to exceed $5,000, and (2) that the Council authorize the Mayor to execute an agreement between Wainwright and Ramsey, Inc., and the City of Lynwood for financial consulting services for the creation of a Community ~'"' Redevelopment Agency at a total cost not to exceed $7,500.
