HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution - 05-27- 20051026 - Endorsing SCC Parks Measu RESOLUTION NO. 05-27 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE MIDPENINSULA REGIONAL OPEN SPACE DISTRICT TO ENDORSE A SANTA CLARA BOARD OF SUPERVISORS RESOLUTION TO PLACE THE COUNTYPARKS CHARTER ON THE JUNE 2006 BALLOT AND ENDORSE PASSAGE OF THE MEASURE WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District considers the preservation, maintenance and enhancement of parks and open space to be vital to the quality of life of Santa Clara County residents; and, WHEREAS, Santa Clara County parklands and park programs are essential in meeting park needs of County residents; and, WHEREAS, the Measure on the June 2006 ballot would extend the current County Parks Charter amendment through the end of the year 2021 providing an assured level of funding for Santa Clara County parks acquisition, development and operation without creating new taxes. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Directors of the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District endorses a Board of Supervisors resolution to place the County Parks Charter on the June 2006 ballot with full funding at the current rate of 1.425 cents per$100 assessed value for 12 years with allocation of funds 15% for acquisition, 5% development, and 80%operations and maintenance and further endorses the passage of the Measure on the June 2006 ballot, and authorizes the publication of the District name as Resolution and Measure endorsers.
