ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING MAY 8, 1973
The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in an adjourned
regular session in the City Hall, 11330 Bullis Road,
on above date at 7:30 p.m.

Councilmen Byork, Liewer, Morris, Rowe, Stevens
answered the roll call.
PUBLIC BUSINESS FROM THE FLOOR
Dr. Hyrum Loutensock, Superintendent of the Lynwood
Unified School District, addressed the Council to review
some of the problems facing the School District in the area
of school financing and negotiations with the teachers'
group. In the ensuing discussion, it was the consensus
that a major problem to be overcome as to the School Report on
District and City Council is lack of communication school problem
with the community. The feasibility of distributing by Dr.

was considered, as previously discussed at the joint
School Board/City Council meeting of March 7, 1973
It was moved by Councilman Morris, seconded by
Councilman Liewer, and carried, that the City Manager
be instructed to investigate feasibility and costs
of publishing such a bulletin.
AWARD OF BIDS
The Manager reported on bids received for furnishing Police Vehicle
five police vehicles and recommended that the Council bid awarded tc
award the bid to Glen Organ Ford, the low bidder, Glen Organ For
at $3,575.2 per vehicle. It was moved by Councilman
Liewer, seconded by Councilman Morris, that the bid
for purchase of five police vehicles be awarded to
Glen Organ Ford.

PROCLAMATION
The Mayor read a proclamation declaring Saturday, May 19, 1973
May 19, 1973, as "Luella Blake Day." It was "Luella Blake
moved by Councilman Liewer, seconded by Councilman Day"
Stevens, and carried, that the proclamation be
authorized.
MANAGEMENT STUDIES AND REPORTS
A report on demolition of structures at 11187, Bid Call -
11195 and 11235 Long Beach Boulevard (Long Demo of
Beach Boulevard widening Project No. 6-150-169) structures,
was presented by the City Manager with the 11187, 11195 f
recommendation that the Council approve the 11235 L.B.Blvc
plans and specifications for said demolition, and May 30 at 10
authorize a call for bids at 10 a.m. on May 30, 1973•

It was moved by Councilman Liewer, seconded by Councilman
Morris, that the plans and specifications be approved
and the call for bids authorized.
In response to questions from the Council, the Manager
said that the successful bidder will be required to
obtain a city business license. He also informed the
Council that proceedings have been initiated for the
properties south of Sanborn Avenue.
All members voting aye, the Mayor declared the motion
carried.
FINANCE REPORT
Res. 73-39 RESOLUTION N0. 73-39 entitled: "A RESOLUTION OF THE
Demands CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD ALLOWING AND APPROVING
THE DEMANDS PRESENTED AND ORDERING WARRANTS DRAWN THEREFOR,"
was presented. It was moved by Councilman Liewer,
seconded by Councilman Stevens, that Resolution No.
73-39 be adopted.

Ayes: Councilmen Byork, Liewer, Morris, Rowe, Stevens.
Noes: None.
Absent: None.
Councilman Rowe stated that the May 1, 1973, warrant
register contained one demand which, had he seen it, he
would not have voted to approve, and he asked that the
record show that he wishes to rescind his vote on approval
of the May 1, 1973, demand register as to warrant No.
4705, pending a report thereon.
In discussing appropriate action to take, it was brought
out that the warrant in question is being held and will
not be mailed prior to the next Council meeting and no
action is necessary pending receipt of the City Manager's
report at the May 15 Council meeting.

CITY CLERK'S AGENDA
It was moved by Councilman Liewer, seconded by Councilman

Liewer, seconded by Councilman Rowe, and carried, that Exchange Club

permission to conduct a "white elephant" sale on
May 20, 1973, be approved.
It was moved by Councilman Liewer, seconded by

of Lakewood Elks Lodge No. 1570, for permission to
conduct a fireworks stand be denied.
It was moved by Councilman Stevens, seconded by
Councilman Liewer, and carried, that the applications
for permission to conduct fireworks stands submitted
by the following organizations be approved: Knights
of Columbus, 2791 and 3888 Imperial Highway; Boy
Scout Troop 60, 11716 Long Beach Boulevard; Royal
Rnagers of the Assembly of God Church, 11984 Santa
Fe Avenue; Job's Daughters Bethel #248, 3541 Century
Boulevard.
The City Manager informed the Council that ground
breaking for the new Security Bank building will
take place on May 9, 1973, at 11 a.m.
It was moved by Councilman Morris, seconded by Council-
man Stevens, and carried, that the meeting adjourn to
9 p.m., May 8, 1973•
