HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution - 05-30- 20051109 - Support SMC Parks Measure RESOLUTION NO. 05-30 RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE MIDPENINSULA REGIONAL OPEN SPACE DISTRICT TO SUPPORT EFFORTS TO DRAFT A MEASURE FOR THE 2006 BALLOT TO INCREASE SALES TAX BY ONE-EIGHTH CENT FOR PARKS AND OPEN SPACE WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District considers the preservation, maintenance and enhancement of parks and open space to be vital to the quality of life of San Mateo County residents; and, WHEREAS, parklands in San Mateo County and park programs are essential in meeting park needs of County residents; and, WHEREAS, the details of the proposed measure are being prepared through a collaborative process; and, WHEREAS, the proposed measure would provide funds for the County, special districts and city parks within San Mateo County. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Directors of the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District supports efforts aimed at drafting a measure for the 2006 ballot to place a 1/8 cent sales tax increase before the San Mateo County voters to secure dedicated revenues to support the parks, open space and recreation-related activities of San Mateo County. RESOLUTION No. 05-30 PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Directors of the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District on November 9, 2005, at a Regular Meeting thereof, by the following vote: AYES: J.
