HomeMy Public PortalAboutM 1974-01-22 - CCJ7~ ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 22, 1974 The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in an adjourned regular session in the City Hall, 11330 Bullis Road, on above date at U:30 p.m. Mayor Byork in the chair. Councilmen Byork, Liewer, Malchow, Morris, Rowe answered the roll call. Also present was City Manager Wright. PUBLIC HEARING The Mayor announced that the time had arrived for public hearing on extension of the term of Ordinance No. 954 relating to the issuance of building permits and construction of structures on and within the 105 freeway corridor. A report on the proposed extension of the ordinance was presented by the City Manager. The Mayor inquired if there were any present wishing to speak in favor of or in opposition to adoption of an ordinance extending the term of Ordinance No. 954. As there was no response, the hearing was closed. ORDINANCE N0. q62 entitled: "AN URGENCY ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD .-, EXTENDING THE TERM OF ORDINANCE N0. 954 FOR AN ADDITIONAL PERIOD OF EIGHT MONTHS," was presented. It was moved by Councilman Liewer, seconded by k Councilman Morris, and carried, that the ordinance be read by title only. It was moved by Councilman Liewer, seconded by Councilman Morris, that Ordinance No. 962 be adopted. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Byork, Liewer, Malchow, Morris, Rowe. Noes: None. Absent: None. City Attorney Cayer arrived. The Manager presented a report on the Insurance Committee's review of the City's fire insurance coverage and the Committee's recommendation that the proposal of the E. E. Wyatt Agency, servicing office for Mr. Emmett Schwartz, be accepted. The proposal provides Blanket Buildings and Equipment Fire, Extended Coverage and Vandalism, with Stipulated Amount Clause in lieu of co-insurance with replacement cost endorsement, on valuation of $2,133,700 at .17 per hundred dollars, or $3,632. annually. The Committee also recommended that the Council consider an additional five month extension of the proposal to enable the subject coverage to Hearing - extension of Ord. 954 Ord. 962 Extending Ord 954 Report on Fir insurance coverage .~~~- expire at the same time as the general liability coverage (July 1, 1977). It was moved by Councilman Liewer, seconded by Council- man Morris, that the Council concur in the Insurance Committee's recommendation to proceed with the blanket insurance coverage proposal submitted by the E. E. Wyatt Insurance Agency, servicing office for Mr. Emmett Schwartz. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Byork, Liewer, Malchow, Morris, Rowe. Noes: None. Absent: None. RESOLUTION ftes. 74-6 RESOLUTION N0. 74-6 entitled: "A RESOLUTION OF THE Destruction CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD APPROVING THE of public DESTRUCTION OF CERTAIN CITY RECORDS BY THE CITY CLERK," records was presented. It was moved by Councilman Liewer, seconded by Councilman Morris, that Resolution No. 74-6 be adopted. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Byork, Liewer, Malchow, Morris, Rowe. Noes: None. Absent: None. CITY CLERK'S AGENDA Head Start It was moved by Councilman Liewer, seconded by dinner 2/1/74 Councilman Rowe, and carried, that the request of Lynwood Head Start for permission to hold a dinner at Ham Park on February 1, 1974, be approved. Crippled It was moved by Councilman Morris, seconded by Council- Children fund man Liewer, and carried, that the request from the drive Crippled Children's Society for permission to conduct a fund drive from January 1 to March 31, 1974, be approved. Damage claim It was moved by Councilman Liewer, seconded by Councilman denied - Morris, and carried, that the claim for damages filed Ramirez by Aurelio Ramirez be denied and referred to the City's insurance carrier. Damage claim It was moved by Councilman Liewer, seconded by Council- denied - man Morris, and carried, that the claim for damages filed Johnston on behalf of Millard Johnston be denied and referred to the city's insurance carrier. COUNCIL AGENDA The City Attorney commented on purchase of insurance and suggested that before the current policies expire in 1977 that the Council advise the City Manager to bring the matter before the Council in order that some type of bidding procedure can be instituted. The Manager informed the Council that the hearing before the Local Agency Formation Commission on the City's ~~r5 application to the Mosquito Abatement District will be held on February 13, 1974, at 9 a.m. Councilman Morris agreed to attend the hearing. The matter of the Council's decision not to participate in installation of additional lighting in the Library area was discussed. ~ It was moved by Councilman Liewer, seconded by Councilman Morris, and carried, that the meeting adjourn to executive session for personnel matters. The City Clerk was excused from the remainder of the meeting, and Councilman Liewer was appointed City Clerk pro tempore.
