HomeMy Public PortalAboutM 1974-02-14 - CCj~~ SPECIAL MEETING FEBRUARY 14, 1974 The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in a special session in the City Hall, 11330 Bullis Road, ,,..,, on above date at 4:30 p.m. Mayor Byork in the chair. Councilmen Byork, Liewer, Malchow, Morris and Rowe answered the roll call. Also present was City Manager Wright. The Mayor announced that the purpose of the meeting was to adopt a resolution protesting the gasoline shortage and to request additional supplies for public safety needs. The Manager explained that due to overdrawing the Gasoline previous month's gasoline allocation, the ethyl shortage gasoline supply for the month of February is approximately 2500 gallons short, and presented the following proposals for the Council's consideration: 1. Request an emergency supply of gas from the County of Los Angeles for the remainder of February, 2, adopt a resolution urging immediate unlimited allocation of gasoline supply to municipalities for public safety purposes, 3. purchase gasoline from a local station at retail prices. ~ It was moved by Councilman Morris, seconded by ~ Councilman Liewer, that the City request County ~ aid for an emergency allocation of gasoline for the remainder of the month of February. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Byork, Liewer„ Malchow, Morris, Rowe. Noes: None. Absent: None. It was moved by Councilman Liewer, seconded by Councilman Morris, that RESOLUTION N0. 74-11 entitled: "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD URGING IMMEDIATE UNLIMITED ALLOCATION OF GASOLINE SUPPLY TO MUNICIPALITIES FOR PUBLIC SAFETY PURPOSES," be adopted and that copies of the resolution be sent to the City's legislative representatives. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Byork, Liewer, Malchow, Morris, Noes: None. Absent: None. Res. 74-11 Protesting gas shortage & urgir immediate allocation of g~ to municipalitiE Rowe. It was ~~aved by Councilman Morris, seconded 'by Council- man Liewer, that the city purchase gasoline from a ~,~- local station at retail prices, if necessary. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Byork, Liewer, Malchow, Morris, Rowe. Noes: None. Absent: None. 3~4 Limiting use City vehicles Councilman Rowe suggested that the Council specify who may drive city vehicles home and on the weekends. After discussion, it was moved by Councilman Morris, seconded by Councilman Byork, that in order to conserve gas for safety vehicles, the following employees may drive vehicles home, Police Chief Darton, Assistant Fire Chief Johnson, standby duty vehicles, and that a study be made by the City Manager on the total use of city vehicles. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Byork, Liewer, Malchow, Morris, Rowe. Noes: None. Absent: None.
