HomeMy Public PortalAboutM 1975-05-23 - CC~~~~ ~~ ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING MAY 23, 1975 The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in an adjourned regular session in the City Hall, 11330 r..., Bullis Road, on above date at 4:30 p.m. Mayor Liewer in the chair. e Councilmen Byork, Green, Liewer answered the roll call. Councilmen Morris and Rowe were absent. Also present was City Manager Wright. The Mayor announced that the purpose of the meeting was discussion of the budget for the 1975-76 fiscal year. The City Manager suggested that the budget be reviewed by funds, commencing with the Water Fund. Public Works Director Alvarado reviewed the Water Department budget and discussed increased operating costs particularly the cost of pgwer and water purchased from the Metropolitan Water District. He presented a chart comparing water consumption for the period 1969-70 (2960 meters) projected to 1976-77 (9526 meters), and a chart indicating water cost per acre foot for the period 1971-72 to 1975-76. He suggested buying the remaining meters needed in the 1975-76 fiscal year with no purchases remaining to be made in the following fiscal year, with the work of installing the meters to be completed in the year 1976-77. A monthly water rate schedule was presented comparing rates among the cities of Compton, Downey, South Gate and ~"' Lynwood, and it was recommended that the Council consider increasing the rate per 100 cubic feet to ~!` 23~. Councilman Morris arrived. The various capital projects for the coming fiscal year were discussed. Those-.discussed at length were the purchase of water rights and restoration of elevated storage tanks previously deleted by the City Manager. In order to commence elevated tank restoration, the possibility of deleting one of the water line installation projects was proposed, and as it was indicated by the Council that they would like to have at least one tank restored during the coming year, it was suggested by the City Manager that Project No. 759, Water Line in Sanborn Avenue between Atlantic and Duncan, could be deleted.
