ADJOURNED REGULAR. MEETING DECEMBER 3, 1
The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in an adjourned
regular session with the members of the Board of Education of the
Lynwood Unified School District. in the Board Room of the Lynwood
Unified. School District, 11331 Plaza., the above date at 7:30 p.m.
Councilmen Byork, Green, Liewer, Morris and Rowe-answered the
Yoll call.
Board of Education members. Armstrong, Dennl.s, F'aist and Peppard
were present. Member Darton was absent because of illness.
Dr. Hv~um r;c°~.~tensock and Mr. Louis Thompson were also present.
CITY (OLTNCIL/SCHOOL BOARD DISCUSSION ITEMS
Dr. Loutensock presented the result of a study of year-round
school and its impact upon the commu.r?ity. The advantages and
disadvantages were pointed. out and :~t :gas ndlca.ted that a decision
will be made on an individual school basis,
City Manager Wright reported on. the ~:urrent status cf the park area
adjacent to Lyrzwoodbergh Elementary School, stating that the State
has given tentative approval. and f.lnal approval. is excpected
shortly after the first of the yearn
In discussing the status of the. education. cente?a in the Redevelop-
ment area, the City Manager sta±:ed that proposals from interested
developers are due to be presented to the Redevelopment Agency on
December 16. Until a developer is se:Lected, there will be no
..definite information as tc the impact on the school facility.
~" Councilman Morris stated that he has. asked the City Manager to
4 contact CALTRANS regarding acquisition of the remainder of the

-- old Will. Rogers School site, and expressed a desire to have the
school and City administrators work together to see what might
be possible in acquiring the property. Use of that property was
discussed with several alternatives being suggested, such as joint
use for City and school corporation yards.
Mrs. Peggy Meyers,. 5164 Century. Boulevard, commented on the
critical parking problem at the High School, and suggested use of
the .area east of Bullis Road and Carlin Avenue to improve the
situation.
Expansion of the Lincoln School site was discussed with reference
to off-street parking and. use of the c.i.rcular parks and medians
for parking or play area s
Dr, Loutensock.informed those present. of the ad hoc committee
which has been formed, ~Tith Mr. George Higgins as Chairrnan, and
Pastor Charles Clark as vice-chairman, for the purpose of study-
ing school district needs The committee w~?11 be advisory to the
Board of Education in determining t,hP district needs, what they
feel the community will be willing to do, and the method of
financiY~g. Financing alternatives available tc the District were
described by Dr. Loutensock~
It was moved by Councilman Rowe, seconded by Councilman Morris,
and carried, that the meeting adjourn tc December 16, 1975, at
'7 p.m.
