HomeMy Public PortalAboutM 1976-08-16 - CC;s...w `gyn. ~ ~~ ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 16, 1976 The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in an adjourned regular session in the City Hall, 11330 Bullis Road, on above date at 7:30 p.m. Mayor Rowe in the chair. Councilmen Byork, Green, Higgins, Morris and Rowe answered the roll call. Also present was Acting City Manager Shepherd. Mr. Harold Mattoon, of the Recreation and Parks Department, was present to review with the Council the various Recreation and Parks budgets, as follows: Account No. 1-190 Recreation and Parks. The City Council concurred in management recommendations relative to the operation items. After discussing the various capital projects, it was moved by Councilman Morris, seconded by Councilman Green, and carried, that $600 be budgeted for purchase of drapes for Ham Park. It was moved by Councilman Higgins, seconded by Councilman Morris, and carried, that $500 be budgeted for replacement of doors in the Community Center Building. It was moved by Councilman Green, .seconded by Councilman Higgins, and carried, that the purchase of tables be deleted and that the feasibility of purchasing round tables as replacements be investigated. It was agreed that the purchase of a replacement calculator for the community center office be approved at $200, and that painting of the Community Center Building and purchase of file and storage cabinets be deleted. After concurring in operation budget recommendations, the Council agreed to approve the following Capital Outlay projects: Replacement of Compressors in Bateman Hall $3000; Replacement of thermostatic control $800; Purchase of Tables $1800 (purchase of round tables to be investigated); Replacement of windows in Rooms 1, la and 2 $550; Replacement of kitchen equipment $800; Replacement of chairs $600. It was moved by Councilman Green, seconded by Councilman Higgins, and carried, that $5000 be budgeted for installation of approximately 1800 square feet of concrete approach to Bateman Hall. ~.~ 'p, _e'._ a.,,F .s.. Account No. 1-195 Parks and Grounds. The Council concurred in recommendations for the Parks and Grounds operations budget. Possible reorganization of the utility departments with separation of the Parks and Grounds maintenance operations from the Recreation activities was discussed briefly. The Council agreed to approve the following Capital Projects: 21" rotary mower $200; lawn edger $150; backflow devices ,...,, $1250; trash cans and picnic tables $800. Proposed budget for purchase of brick dust for ball diamonds will be transferred to the operations account, and the proposed expenditure of $12,000 for automatic sprinklers in State Street medians will be indicated in the Public Works budget. Account No. 1-198 Natatorium. The Council recommendations relative to the operations transfer of maintenance items shown in the to the operations budget, and concurred in proposals for capital purchases: Portable submersible pump $200; steel door replacem vacuum $350; teaching platform $350. concurred in budget with the capital budget the following pool vacuum $500; ant $2500; Wet/Dry It was moved by Councilman Byork, seconded by Councilman Morris, and carried, that the request for change of Secretary from Range 6G to lOG be denied. It was moved by Councilman Green, seconded by Councilman Morris, that the requested parity between Recreation Superintendent and Park Superintendent be denied.
