HomeMy Public PortalAboutM 1977-06-30 - CCR* ~ ~, ~ ~ «~ ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING JUNE 30, 1977 The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in an adjourned regular session in the City Hall, 11330 Bullis Road, on above date at 5 p.m. Mayor Rowe in the chair. Councilmen Byork, Green, Higgins, Morris and Rowe answered the roll call. Also present was City Manager Valliere. The City Council discussed the Fourth of July program. Donald Snavely, Director of Recreation and Parks, recommended that the Recreation Department be responsible for the 1978 program. It was moved by Councilman Green, seconded by Councilman Byork, that the matter be referred to the Parks and Recreation Commission for recommendations to be submitted within 90 days. There being no opposition, the motion carried. It was moved by Councilman Morris, seconded by Councilman Green, that the Chamber of Commerce budget be approved and authorized the first quarterly payment in the amount of $9,311.25. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Noes: Councilmen Absent: None. Byork, Green, Morris. Higgins, Rowe. The City Council discussed the advisability of publishing a newsletter as a service to Lynwood residents. It was moved by Councilman Higgins, seconded by Councilman Morris, that $10,000 be budgeted for a quarterly newsletter. Mrs. Melody Witter, publisher of the Lynwood Press, addressed the Council to express opposition to a newsletter and offered to make space available in the Lynwood Press for any Council action, information or planned event deemed newsworthy. Mrs. Witter stated her offer would be withdrawn if the Council decided to publish the newsletter. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Higgins, Morris, Rowe. Noes: Councilman Green. Absent: Councilman Byork. It was moved by Councilman Morris, seconded by Councilman Higgins, and carried, that the meeting adjourn to Tuesday, July 5, 1977 at 7 p.m. ~, ~- APPROVED JULY 19,.,977 City of Lynwoo
