The Board of Trustees of the City of L~rnwood met, pursuant to adjournment, at the above time and plane. .... ROLL CALL- Present: Trustees Merrill, McCord, White, ~Ysll and Pettycrew. Absent: Done. City Attorne~r anal City Clerk present. The minutes of the meeting held. on ~dednesda~, Jan- uar~ 4, 1922, were read b~ the Clerk, and on motion were approved as read. The Cit~l Treasurer reported. that the amount in his CITY mREASUR- hands on Januar~r 1'~' , was as follows: Pater Fu~.d, 596.68; ER`S REPORT General Fund, ~i56.67, and Dog Tag Fund, X14.00. MATER ~Jater Clerk reported that he had collected since CLERK `S REPORT January 4, 1922, ~484.1a in the ~7ater fund, azid X20.00 water tap fund, and had paid the same into the City Treasurer. Mr. Downer reported to the Board that peddlers from outside districts were selling meats, etc. , in L~pnwood, I~~~AT AND FISH PED- and asked if the hoard could afford protection to the ~L'~.RS Lynwood merchants against this practice. I~~oved that the matter of the meat and fish peddlers be referred to the Committee of the ~Fhole for Earthen consideration. Carried. The Citer Marshal was instructed b~ the Board to prevent childre8 from riding and skating on the business 4 street, but to permit them to use the side streets. ~Ir. H. C. Oliver presented a request from the L~2a.- "" ,:~ v~~ood Improvement Assoeiatio~ for the appointment of DEPUTY MARSHALS certain deputy marshals to act under T+~arshal Rowley. The Citer Attorney suggested that Cheer be sworn in as speei8l police instead. _ _. ___ _. ~~ Th® Cit,~ Attorney presented a form of report to bs CITY used b,y the Cit~r Treasurer. TREASUR- ER REPORT F~oved that the Report Form presented b~ the City .FORMS Attorne~r be used in the weokl~ reports of the Cit~t Treasurer. Carried. The City Attarner~ reported concerning the rand funds, and recommended that the following motion be adopted, and it was moved the.t the City Atto rne~ be authorized and instructed to make an agreement or arrangement with the Counter of Los A~.geles, providing that, in consideration of the Counter of Los Angeles paling to the City of L,~nwood the money collected, or hereafter collected or received, by the County of ROAD Zos Angeles, from taxes levied on property, for high- FUl~D TAgES war or road purposes, the City' of L~rnwood wi 11 spree and does hereby agree, to repay and reimburse said County of Las Angeles, for and and all such mone~r so paid to said Cit,~, and which the Counter shall that®after be required to repast or refund to the taxpayers paging same to the County. ENGINEER LYNCH Stockwell, by the City of L,~awood, be accepted and placed on file. On motion the erdinanee entitled 'TAN' ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF LYN~FOOD REGULATING EXCAVATIONS IN PUBLIC STREETS, in said CITY, AND PROHIBITING THE DIGGING OF OF SUCH STREETS 17TTHOUT A PERMIT, AND FIXING A PENALTY FOR. THE VIOLATION THEREOF" was taken up for its second reading. Said Ordinance was seed by the Clerk for the second tiros , and it was moved ~~ and carried that it he declared read far the second time and that it be taken np for its third reading anal final passage. Said Ordinance was then read by the Clerk for the third time, and upon motion it was adopted as read by the following vote: AYES: Trustees Merrill, McCord, t~Thi.te, Fall and Pettycrew. NOES: None. ABSENT: None. Said Ordinance so adopted being Ordinance No. 11 of the City of Lynwood. Trustee Merrill pr@sented a Resolution entitled "P~ RESOLUTION OF THE ~~O~~RD OF TRTJSTEES OF THE CITY CITY OF LYN~100D APPOINTING CERTAIN PERSONS TO THE OFFICES OF SPECIAL POLICE OFFICERS OF SAID CITY, TO SERVE ~PITHOUT COMPENSATION." Said Resolution was then read by the City Clerk, Moved that said Resolution be adopted as read, Carried by the following vote: AYES: Trustees Merrill, McCord, ~Thi.te, gall agd Pettycrew. NOES: None. The minutes of the meeting held on Wednesday, Januar,q 18, 1922, were read by the Clerk, and on motion, were approved as read. The Water Glerk reported that he had collected, since January 17, 1922, x'76.55 water fund, and~''20.00 water tap fund, and had paid the same into the City Treasury, leaving no balance on hand. A petition was presented to the Board, signed b~ five citizens, residing in the south end of L~'nwood, on Euclid Avenue, ask3.ng that aro lights be installed near their property. ±l~oved and carried that the petition requesting are lights be placed on Euclid Avenue, in the south end of L~rnwood, be tabled. The Cit~t Attorne~r, through Frederick Baker, Jr., presented a Resolution entitled "A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRTTSTEES OF THE CITY OF I,YNP~OOD REQUESTING THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES TO PAY TO SAID CITY THE ~~ONEY COLLECTED BY SAID COUNTY FROM TAXES FOR ROAD PURPOSES ON PROPERTY SITUATED WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES OF SAID 1VIUNICIPALITY, AND AGREEING TO REIM- BURSE A1ID REPAY SAID COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES SUCH ~~t10NEY, IN THE EVENT THAT TT SHALL BE DETvR~.'aNED OR ADJTTDGED TH.iT SUCH PANT ti9AS ILLEG_~iL AND THAT SAID COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES IS OBLIGATED TO REPAY OR REFUND THE SAIVTa TO TH.~ TAXPAYERS S~iO PAID SUCH MONEY TO SAID COUNTY." -a ,~~, :~. Dr. Bell, Cit~t Health Officer, reported on the sanitary conditions in the City of Lynwood, s.nd especially with reference to plumbing and cess pools, and reported that the plumbing in the Lynwood school building and grounds :SPORT OF was in such condition that unless immediately investi- HEALTH OFFICER gated and repaired the City schools would Dave to be cslosed, for the protection of the health of the school children. Moved that Dr. Bell be instr~?cted to notify the school beard of the bad sanitary condition at the school house, and demand immediate action; otherwise to take it to the County authorities. Carried.
