The Board of Trustees of the City of Lynwood met pursuant to
adjournment at the above time and place.
Present Trustees, Willard, Anderson and Rehfeld,
Absent, Trustees, Strowger and Merrill.City Clerk present.
President Rehfeld in the Chair.
A petition was presented to the Board of Truateea signed
by l~r. FrankF. Adenzel` and fg0 others, residents of Lynwood
,._., asking the Board to t~~ke the necessary steps towzrd obtaining
and installin a street lighting system for the unlighted. portion
of the City of Lynwood,which was refered to the Commissioner of
`" Light and Water for a reportat the next meeting.
Acommunication from the county Surveyor was read by the
clerk and a blueprint map exhibited of a tract if land proposed
to be subdivided being Tract N0.4827 adjoining the city on the
south; a Resolution was offered by Trustee Wil-lard approving saii3i
subdivision,said Resolution being Resolution NO. 31, was adopted
- by the following vote;
AYES, Truateea Anderaon,Willard and Rehfeld,
- NOES, None; Absent Truateea Strowger and 1~e rill.
The President had an Ordinance introdu ed(ORDINANCE,NO.--)
said Ordinance providing for the removal of weeds, grass, rubbish
or other refuse or waste materialwhich is or may become a menace
to life or healthor a danger to the atar~tng or spread of fire,
which was them read by the c1Hrk and declared read for the first
time and laid over to the next meeting.
- 1~r. Ed Nelson addressed the Board regarding the opening, of
Ailey-ways on the back ends of all lots thru each block in the
city for the purpose of later placing all water mains, gas mains,
sewers, electric-light and telephone poles therein,
the matter was then t~.ken up and refered to the Commissioner of
Light and Water for his investigation and report.
BBr.Ray Crystal addressed the Board on the subject of
widening LongBeach F3oulevard between Fernwood and Beechwood. Avenue;
a motion was then made and carried the matter was refered to the
Commissioner of Streets and Alleys with instructions to conarzlt
with the proper authoriti®s, especially with the Chairman of the
Board of Supervisors of the county and report to the Board. his
findings as soon as practable.
Trustee Vuillard made some timely remarks on the advisability
of having all Water mains, Gas mains Electric-light and telephone
poles removed from the streets and placed on the back end of lots
in an Alley to be acquired by the City, thereby avoiding in the
future the digging up of streets which would be a source of great
expense and annoyance especially should we get our streets paved
he said he thought six to sevBn_and a half feet off each lot would
be ample and that it would not prevent the planting of trees nearby
so the owners of the property would have almost full use of the it
end sines all deeds from the Lynwood Co to the property owners are
- made with the reservation that the right is reserved to enter upon
all late around the exterior borderw lines for the purpose of
laying mains and setting poles Etc.it would not be going much Earth
ur to definitely .declare dust hors many feet might be used for such
purpose, and it would be notice to all in the future to not build
chicken and other out houses on this strip of land.
Cdr. Ray Cristal suggested that it might be advisable to
eonaider the matter of looking after some means of removing garbage
!„~ ~ especially in the business district of Lynwood stating that in his
op3.nion garbage would bring flies and perhaps disease he thought
it probable that some responsible party might be found who would be
- glad of the privelige of gathering andremoving all such refuse
without cost to the city. '

Commissioner of Health and Safety.;
A communication from P`4r. George,Gregory was read saying that
y in his bill for repairs at plant No.2, he had failed to charge for ~`

A petition was presented and read from citizens mostly of
the West side of the City signed by ~sgiss~dna Hawthorn and 24 other =°
asking that the name of T~Qodjeska Street be changed to Reed Street
or Reed Avenue, this matter was laid :ever to a futurti time .
Mr. G.H.Rowlay tendered his resignation as "~~.rshal and as
Superintendent of the '~~Tater ~~l~artment, on mo tioli made and carried.
Pti~r. Rowleys Resignation was accepted.
The question of Street lights was then taken up and discussed.,:-.
Trustee ~~errill said he had been informed that the Southern Calif or
nia Edison Co. was `to send a man here to explain the proper pro .:
ceedure bu$ it was impossible to get any approximate figures on the"
cost of a light installation until the kind and quality was decides ~->>~
upon several others made short talks on the question and then it'
was refered to the Chamber of Commerce for their consideration.

Trustee Willard seconded by Trustee Anderson moved that the ~~
foregoing Demands be allowed and warrants drawn for the same,
carried by the following vote;Trustees,It4erri1l, :'dillard, Anderson,
Strowger and Rehfeld.

Trustee Willard seconded by Trustee Anderson moved that at

practically occupy all of one mans time and require some kind of
transportation to Cary tool's and supplies
Mr. Fred Welch explained the work as it has been during
th@ past, few months.: I~r. Paul Aseljrn made a few minutes talk
on the necessity of having a man for the job who understands
pumps, motor's and handling of electricity.
Trustee Merrill said he thought one man could handle the
water priposition, Marshal and Speed Cop. with a little help
now and then on repairing mains where leaks are bad or more than
one man can handle a lone,

saying at present a man could be hired at 4ncts, per hour,
as a helper. Mr. Fred ~ elch said he would said he would
help at that price. '
Trustee Strowger made a motion that the salary of the Super
intendant of .the V6ater department be,~f00. per month the motion
was seconded by Trustee Willard and carried by the following vote.
Ayes, Trustees ~Pillard, Strowger and Rehfeld,
Noes, Trustees P~errill and Anderson.
Absent None.
Trustee Strowger seconded by Trustee Anderson made a motion
that the City itarshal including the duties of Traffic Officer
furnishing his own motor cycle, oils, gasoline and all upkeep,
provide and wsar at all times when on duty a respectable uniform
be paid a salary of 200. par month motion carried by the following;
vote;
Ayes, Trustees V9'illard, Anderson, Strowger and Rehfeld.
Noes Trustee, Merrill,
Absent None.
Trustee Anderson seconded by Trustee ~~terrill made a motion
that all applications for either of above positionab'R~ ~ befoe
Wednesday night IQay .4th. t922.motion carried.
On motion made and carried the Board adjourned to meet
again at this place on ~Pednesday Pday 24, 1922, t 7:30,P.
