M. Roll Call Present: Trustees Merrill, Willard, Menzel, Downey, Anderson. Absent: None. President Anderson in the Chair. Clerk present. Minutes of Meeting of Sept. 19, 1923, read and approved. ?Wrdt. Coms. A petition from the Chamber of Co -merce asking that ade4uate fire protection be afforded the City, was read, and on motion by T Trustee Menzel, seconded by Trustee Merrill, same was ordered filed. A petition from property owners adjacent to Lot 513, Tract 2551, protesting against the establishing of a church on the afore- said Lot was read, and on motion by Trustee Menzel, seconded by Trus- tee }Hillard, the same was ordered filed. On motion by Trustee Menzel, seconded by Trustee Willard, the Clerk was instructed to consult the City Atty regarding the adoption of an Ordinance compelling the consent of adjacent property owners before a permit for the erection of a church was granted. Spl Com. Trustee Willard reported progress made on stmaightehing Mag- nolia Street at Pine. Mr. Fox, owner of Lot 1075 at intersection of Carlin and Pine expressed himself as willing to convey portion of same to City for street purposes. Unf. Bus. This being the time and place set for the hearing of protests or objections against the improvement or the extent of the district, or both, under Resolution of Intention No. 111, the Clerk announced that there were certain protest petitions on file covering same, and read protests from property owners on Pear Street, Plum Street, Grape Street, So. Peach Street and the South Roadway of Fernwood Avenue from Peach Street to the westerly boundary line of the City. ...., A motion by Trusteei -- Menzel, seconded by Trustee Hillard, that said Protest Petitions be aver -ruled and not allowed, was lost by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Willard, Menzel. Noes: Trustees Merrill, Downey, Anderson. A motion by Trustee Downey, seconded by Trustee Merrill, that the work of improvement as contemplated under Resolution of Intention No. 111, be abandoned and set aside, was carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Merrill, Downey, Anderson. Noes: Trustees Menzel, !Willard. A Resolution offered by Trustee Willard entitled "A Resolution of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lynwood. California, ordering bonds delivered to contractor." was read. Om motion duly made and seconded, said Resolution being Resolution No. 129, was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Merrill !Hillard, Menzel, Downey, Anderson. Noes: None. Absent: None. A Resolution offered by Trustee Downey entitled "A Resolution of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lynwood, California, relating to the issuance of 'treet Improvement Bonds pursuant to Resolution of Intention No. 59, determining the amount of unpaid assessments, pre- scribing the denomination of such bonds and providing for their issu- ance and sale." was read. On motion duly made and seconded, said Reso- lution, being Resolution No. 130_ was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Merrill, Willard, Menzel, Downey, Anderson. Noes: None. Absent: None. New Bus. A Resolution offered by Trustee Menzel entitled "A Resolution of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lynwood, ddopting`plans and specifications for improvements to be made on certain streets in said City of Lynwood, together with the districts to be assessed to pay the costs and expenses thereof." was read. On motion duly made and seconded, said Resolution being Resolution No. 131, was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees 'Hillard, Merrill, Menzel, Anderson. Noes: Trustee Downey. Absent: None. 180 A Resolution offered by Trustee Merrill entitled "A Resolution of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lynwood, de- claring its intention to improve Agnes Street, Cedar Street, Bur- ton Avenue, Oak Avenue, and portions of Magnolia Avenue, Carlin Avenue, Palm Avenue, Euclid Avenue, Orchard Avenue, Pine Avenue and School Street in the City of Lynwood, and describing the dis- trict to be assessed to pay the costs and expenses of said im- provement.'.' was read. On motion duly made and seconded, said Reso- lution,being Resolution No. 132, was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Merrill, Willard, Menzel, Anderson. Noes: Trustee Downey. Absent: None. A Resolution offered by Trustee Downey entitled "A Re- solution of the Board of Trustees of the City of Lynwood, California, authorizing and empowering Wm. H. Thomas. City Attorney of said City, to enter into a stipulation in the cause now pending before the Su- per &or Court of the State of California, in and for the County of Los Angeles, entitled: "County of Los Angeles, Plaintiff, versus the Cities of Alhambra, Arcadia, et al, Defendants, No. 128- 529." was read. On motion duly made and seconded, said Resolution being Reso- lution No. 133, was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Merrill, Willard, Menzel, Downey, Anderson. Noes: None. Absent: None.
