The Board of Tr~.astees of the City of Lynwood met in regular ad- journed session at the City Hall, 205 `,hest Mulford Ave, 9Uednesday, Jan. 30, 1924, at 7:30 p m. Present: Trustees Merrill, 9dillard, Downey, Anderson. Absent: Trt)stCC PJtenzel, The minutes of the meetings of Jan. 16 & 18, 1324 were read and approved as react. Writ com A communication from the City Atty waG read and filed. A protest petition against pclol halls was read and filed... A r~sol.ution as~ainst pool halls bar the '~doman' s Club was read and filed. A comrrnlnication from Chas F F?eed regarding si~3ewalk in front of his home on So Long Beach Blvd waa read and laid over to new business. Spl Com Trustee Downey reported that a full report on drainage would be made at the n ~ meeting of the Board. tTnf Bus A repor~ ecCived from the Hall-Johnson Co regarding the progress of the street work. The matter of repairing the streets where torn up bq the Gas Co was taken up. It was decided that the City do this work and charge to the Gas Co. A motion by Trustee Downey, seconded by Trustee y"Dillard, that the Chair appoint a committee to purchase necessary equipment for this work was carried by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Merrill, Willard, Downey, Anderson. Noes: None. Absent : Trustee ?Menzel . the Chair appointed TrusteF Merrill, and stated that he would also act. The bill covering the work of improvement on the streets arouhd-~ ,,.,,,, the School property was referred to the above mentioned committee with instructions to consult the City Atty regarding same. A m©t ion was made and carried that the City Atty be asked to have a report covering the removal of the restrictions vn Long Beach Blvd ready for t'ne Board at the next meeting. This was also referred to the same committee. A communication was received from the Holly Sugar Co in regard to their beet dump The Citp Marshal and Sanitation Officer were instructed to inspect same and if found in an unsafe or unsanitary condition to take whatever steps necessary for the abatement of same. New Bus A protest regarding the speed of Pacific Electric trains over the Modjeska Ave creasing, and also asking that a wig-wag be installed at same was read. The Clerk was instructed to present this matter to the proper officials of the P E. A Resolution entitled "A Resolution of the Board of Trustees of the. City of Lynwood, Cal~t.fornia, transfarrirg the sum of Seven Hundred Dollars (~~"700.00) from the Clerk's Street Improvement Fund to the Treasurer's Street Improvement Fund of said City," was read. Said reso- lution being Hesolutien ~0 160, was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Merrill, Willard, Downey, Anderson. Noes: None, Absent: Trustee Menzel. Mrs. Greenamyer rapresenting the PST A., asked that a curfew or- dinance be enacted. The Chair appointed Trustee '~dillard to investigate the feasibility of same. -- A protest was received fr©m Chas S Woods regarding the leasing of the P E station for commercial purposes. This was referred to the com- mittee already appointed in this matter. A motion by Trustee Downey, seconded by Truatee Merrill, that the Water Clerk be allowed `~20 a month for assistance was carried by the following vote; Ayes : Trustees Merrill. A motion by Trustee ?Merrill, seconded by Trustee Willard, that the City purchase a rubbish cart, was carried by the following vote; Ayes: Trustees Merrill, Willard, Downey, Anderson. Noas: None. Trustee Downey explained the sanitary con-iition of same.
