Fd~eeting of Board July 3 1924
The Board of Trustees of the City of Lynwood met in adjourned
regular session at the City Hall, 205 ~~7est ~~hzlford Ave, Thursday,
July 3, 1924, at 7:30pm,
Present: Trustees Downey Gordy Tweedy Reed Anderson
Absent: None
yresident Anderson in the Chair, Clerk present
On motion made and seconded the reading oP the minutes of the
previous meeting was omitted.
The ~?oard having adjourned to this date for thepurpose of dis-
cussing theALbadition of the Police Department this was taken up.
Police Commissioner Downey stated that conditiond were not sat-
isfactory in this Department, and recommended that the two positions
of night traffic officer be vacated for 30 days. and that the City
Marshal's salary be reduced to :175.00 per month. He stating that
since the creation of the t,wo above mentioned positions that th® ef -
ficiency of the Department had not increased to an appreciable extent,
and also that retrenchment in all lines of business was being ~3rac-
ticed owing to the fact that there was a general slump throughout
the .whole country in business and wages. `~
After an interrogation of the entire personnel of the police
department,a majority of the Board decided that conditions were sat-
isfactory.
tAFhereupon Police Commissioner Downey stated that he thought
that it would be for the best interest of the Depa~tYment if he
should resign as Pclice Commissioner. He then tendered his resig-
nation.and asked that the same be accepted,
A. motion by Trustee Gordy, seconded 'oy Trustee Tweedy, that the
same be accepted. was carried by the following vote:
Ayes; Trustees Downey Gordy Tweedy Anderson
Tdoes : Trustee Freed
Absent: None
