Present: Trustees Downey Gordy Tweedy Reed Anderson Absent: None President Anderson in the Chair. Clerk present The reading of the minutes of the previo~.is meeting was omitted.. ?Tnf bus . The 3~QUt~~of A Eight o'clock P{~ r~ having arrived, and this being the time fixed for the co ntirnzed hearing in the matter of the assess- ment for the improvement of Peach Street and other streets its particu- larly described in Resolution of Intention tdo 143, R9r, Althouse, repre- senting the S~lperintendent oP Streets, reported to the F'oard that he had corrected and modified the amo~~nts of the several assessments pur- suant to the order and determination of the Hoard of Trustees adopted July 16 1924, and that the assessment as it now stands includes each and every correction ~zrsuant to said order and determination, and the Board having been satisfied with the correctness of the assessment and having found that each and every x~arcel of land within the district pro- posed to be assessed that were benefited. by the improvement, had been assessed in accordance with the benefits derived; Thereupon, it was moved b~= Trustee Reed that. the assessment be confirmed as modified and corrected by order and determination of the Poard of Trustees, and that the Street Superintendent be instructed to sign the warrant, which motion was seconded by Trl~stee Q~3y and carried by the following vote, to-wit: a~~- Ayes: Trustees Jownetr Gord?r Tweedy Reed Anderson noes: None Absent: None Fire Commissioner spoke as follows: "While we have been par- ticularly fortunate in the past regarding fires in the City, we can not expect to always continue so, and I believe that the time has arrived when vre should at once install uo-to-date fire fighting equipment and provide an unlimited water supply. I have investigated and found that by doing so that the reduction in the premiums on insurance will, in a few years, :more than off-set the cost of first-class fire protec- tion, and in addition we will have the sense of security that comes from knowing that we can control, and limit, the scope of any fire that might otherwise cause great damaue in our City, The Board has been pe- titioned by the Chamber of Commerce and the Board of aealtors to call a bond election to raise adequate f~xnds for vroviding the City with ~ ct.~~~.c~~- ,therefore I desire to make a motion that the City Atty be 'instructed t .prepare the preliminary measures necessary to place before the voters of this City the proposition of issuing the amount of bonds necessary to raise sufficient f~znds for this nuroose. The above motion upon being seconded by Trustee iZeed was carried by the following vote: ' Ayes : Trustees :Downey Gordy `Tweedy Reed Anderson Noes: None Absent: None after discussing the necessity of drilling another well to augment the present water supply. r~ motion was made and carried that the Chair appoint a committee to report on prices for drilling same; said committee to report at next meeting. The Chair appointed Trustees. Gordy Tweedy Reed. Board adiournea to meet Friday.
