Clerk present The minutes of the meeting of .T~lly 1FI, l~?24, were read anal '""""""' approved as read. Cral Coma l~r Sylvester, of So?~.thnate, representing the Long Beach Islvd _a Improvement Assn, apreared before the board and explained what the .. yssn was accomplishing in the improve1nent of the Blvd, stat,ng that results were very satisfactory. He also asked that the P;oard grant ' permission to the Assn to erect a temporar~T structure thn ~:he ,B3~d to r be v.sed as headquarters for the said Assn. Trustee Downey spoke fa~- oring granting this permit, explaining the advantages to the Cit~t in this matter, and stating that there were z~lenty of communities that Would build e bi~i~.ding for the assn if the said Aasn wo7~ld establish • their headquarters there. A motion by Trustee Tweedy, seconded by Tr~~stee Downey, that the Hermit be granted as requested, was carried by the fo7 lowing vote Ayes : Trustees Dosr~ey Gordy Tweedy Reed Anderson ' Noes: None ` Absent : None ,• " The petition received from the '~~awona Park district asking that an election be called in that territory for the purpose of sub- mitting the proposition of annexing to the City of Lynwood, having been referred to the Clerk for certification, the Clark reported bhat he found that there mere S7 registered voters in that district and that there were 17 signatures of voters appended to said petition, and as the law requires that a petition contain at least twenty-five per cent of the registered voters residing within the territory, there-~,,,~ fore the said petition was void. ', Anew Ordinance entitled "~~n Ordinance declaring the intention of the Board of Trustees of the Cit~t of L~mwocd to order the opening. widening and extending of certain streets and alleys in said City of Lynwood, " was rea•3 far the first time . ; an~i on motion made and seconded was declared read for the first time and laid over for second reading. On motion made and seconded the Board proceeded to canvass the, result of the Special E~~~nexation Election held in the territory known , and designated as "Addition 40 6 to the Cit-r of Lynwood," on Sat~~rday, . July 19, 1924. After completing; the same the res?zlt was declared to be as follaws: The whole number of votes cast was found to be Three (3); the proposition voted on was whether the said territory should be an- ~ ' Hexed to tre City o° Lynwood. It vas found and declared that therQ were Three (3) votes in`'avor of sai~I nronosition and none against sa?~~e. "t~ Resolution of the £~oard of Trus- tees of the City of Lynwood declaring its intention to improve Frank- ' lip Street, Penn Street, "!ilex Street, Grant Street, Allis Street, Alamo Court, and portions .of tilam~eda Street, the North Roadway of Fernwood Avern~e and t'~ellinger Street in said City of Lynwood, and-de~--- scribing the district to be assessed to pay the costs and expenses for said improvement," was read.; and. o~ motion made and seconded. said Resolution being Resolution No 202, of~~the°-Cite of Lynwood, was adopt- ed bar the following vote: ';'""" Ayes: Trustees nowney Gordy Tweedy Reed Anderson Noes: None Absent: None Anew Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance of the. Hoard. of Trus- tees of the Cit~• of Lynwood granting to the ?acifie electric Railway Co ., a railway carpc~ratian. certain rights and. privileges on the easterly Fight t8) feet of Chester Street, between Sanhor~ Avenue and Fern~rocd Avenue, in the Cit.s of Lynwood, on certain conditions,' !gas ~' read for the second time, and an matian made and carried was declared read for the second time and laid aver far third rea.-3.ing and final pasQa~;e. The City Atty explained necessary preliminary proceedings for submitting the preposition of voting bonds for a fire department and drilling a well and eq~?ipping same. A motion by Trustee Downey, seconded by Trustee Reed, that the Citq Attq and City Engr be in-- strueted to draw the necessary petitions to szbmit.to the interested ' electors, was carried by-the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Downey Gordy Tweedy Reed Anderson. A motion by Trustee Downey, seconded by Trustee Tweedy, that the Chair appoint a committee to investigate and work ,.,_,, out a zoning Ordinance . And that the Chamber of Commerce Arid Board c` .ealtors be ir_vit,ed. to participate. "das carried unanimously.
