Pdieeting of Board August 20 1924 -
The Board of Trustees of the Cit~,* of Lynwood met in regU.lar
session at, the City Hall, 205 :`pest A~ulford E,ve, ~`a'ednesday, ~~ugust 20,
1924, at 7:30 pm.
Present: Trustees Gord;* Reed Anderson
Absent: Trustees Downer Tweedy
President Anderson in the rhair~, Clerk present ~
't'he minutes of the meeting of ^.ugust 6 were read and appro-
ved as read. ~+
Grit Coms ~1 communication from the Lynwood Realty Co explaining how
tre property at 310 Poplar Drive was rented to a ~"exican family, and
sating that rental had been refunded and that, said family had vacat-
ed the premises, was read and filed.
Unfin Bus Mr Quackenbush reported .progress on the municipal well,
stating that the same was down to a depth of 294 feet, that the 16-in
casing was stuck, and asking for instructions. The Chair appointed
Trustees Gordy and Reed as a committee to investigate.
E"~ letter was read from the Secthrity Investment Co stating
that they would furnish a list of property owners in the City so far
as their records go. t; motion by Trustee Gordy, seconded by `T'rustee
Reed, that the Clerk be instructed to ask for the a'oove list, was
carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Gordy Reed Anderson
Noes: None
Absent: Trustees Downey Tweedy
This being; the time and place for the receiving of sealed
bids for certain water pipe and fittings as advertised for, a motion
was made and carried that the Clerk open, examine and publicly declare
all bids on file. ~Nhereupon the Clerk open and read bids from the fol-
lowing firms: Pacific Tank & Pipe Co, Los Angeles Mfg Co, '~lestco-Chip-
pewa Pump Co, American steel Pipe & Tank Co, Lacy Mfg Co, Grinnell Co,
Redwood PJLfg Co, and ~estErn Pipe ~c Steel Co. A motion by Trustee Gordy
seconded by Trustee Reed, that t:~e Chair appoint a committee to roves- ,..,~
tigate these bids with. authority to enter into contract, was carried
by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Gordy Reed Anderson

The Chair appointed Trustee Gordy,~_Reed and the City Clerk
This being the time and place set for the hearing of pro-
tests or objections against the improvement, or the extent of the dis-
trict to be assessed to pay the costs of said improvements, or both,
as contemplated by Pesolution of Intention No 202, the Clerk announced
that no protests were on file; whereupon the President inquired if any '
persons present desired to be heard, and no objections having been pre-
sented, a Resolution offered by Trustee Reed entitled "A Resolution of
the Board of Trustees of the City of Lynwood ordering the improvement
of r'ranklin Street, Penn Street, ~'diley Street, Grant Street, Bullis
Street, Alamo Court, and portions of Alameda Street, the North Road-
way of Fernwood Avenue and Bellinger Street in the City of Lynwood,
California," was -read. Said Resolution being Resolution No 208 of the
City of Lynwood, was, on motion made and seconded, adopted by the fol-
lowing vote:
Ayes: Trustees Gordy Reed Anderson

:absent: Trustees Downey Tweedy
~~~ r~r Cogswell and Mr Norris spoke on street extentions, asking
that Golden Ave and certain other streets be extended. This matter was ""^"
continued to the next meeting.
Street~Commissicner Reed spoke on the necessity of purchas-
ing a truck for use in the street department, and stated that a suit-
able truck to be obtained for x'200, and made a motion that the same be
purchased, said motion upcn 'ceing seconded bzr Trustee Gordy was carried
by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Gordy Reed :inderson

A new Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance of. the Board of Truss.
tees of the City of Lynwood, Cal., fixing the amount of money necessary
to be raised bar taxation upon the taxable property therein as a revenue
to carry on the various departments and pay the bonded indebtedness of
said City of Lynwood for the current ,year 1924-25," was read, and on
motion made and seconded was declared read for the first time and. laid.
over for second reading.

demonstrated an addressing machine, the same being for the purpose
of addressing bil]_s for water users. tlction was deferred to next
meeting.

A motion by 'T'rustee Gordy, seconded by `.I~ustee Reed that the
above demands be allowed and warrants ordered drawn for same, was
carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Gordy Reed 'Anderson

On motion Board adjourned to meet Thursday, August 21, 1924,
at the usual time and place.
